That provides an early basis for what my problem is.
I had given up on trying to fix Coldstone on this machine because I thought I would be getting a new computer - it just ain't that way. I will not be getting a new Mac anytime soon, so I will have to make do with my father's computer here and try and get this program to work.
As can be seen in the other string, I can't get the program to do anything... Annoying.
I'll post again real soon here with some picts.

Well, looks like my server is being lousy; no picts for now - I'll try to upload again tomorrow.
I figured out exactly where the rror lies for me. Normally, when one starts up coldstone and goes to create a new game or folder, there is something within the white box that you choose your folder from. There is nothing within my box. I'd post a pict of my box up here, but again, my server is misbehaving and it won't let me upload to my webpage.
So, if anyone catches my drift, that's what's going on.
Hmmm... Looks like another one of "those" kind of questions - the ones that no one can answer - hmmm...
I have a pict - my webapge finally cooperated. Here it is:
You can see that the white box in this pict has a list of folders - the stuff by the red line.
This one (which is mine) does not have any of those folders - I don't know what to do because I can't make one and I can't select one. Clicking on the select button invokes the computer into its think mode (with the little watch icon) but it just stops and goes back to this window.
Any help!! Please!!
Could someone post a pict of what there's looks like? Or even better, what it looks like when it's run for the first time?
If you can take a screenshot, but can't post because you don't have a webpage, just e-mail it to C3PShrout@aol.com under the name "Coldstone Pict". I'll put on my page and send you the URL so you can post it. That my help someone else solve the problem.
Hi Shrout,
sorry you ask the tough questions. I was reply last nite but lost my connection again. The first pop-up when starting Coldstone is the Coldstone Logo centered on the screen with the version # at the bottom. That dissolves to a popup window that says: Welcome to the Coldstone Game Factory with Coldstone Factory logo. (at least i think thats it since im working on a game the tips -of- the day window is the next one i see.)
at this point Coldstone is waiting for you to select a folder to save your new game or plug-in.
now some questions for you. sorry if youve posted this info before. How much memory is give to CGE before lauch and did you ever clean your extensions folder?

I have run Coldstone under a much more minimalistic set of extensions, but still no luck. I had not upped the memory before, so I will try that. I'll allot it about 20 more megs. We'll see if that fixes anything...
Nope, it doesn't fix a thing.
When you opened coldstone the first time and got to that window, what options did you have? Was there a folder there that you could have selected?

Hrm. The dialogue box, as far as I know, is empty....... the window has a message saying something like "Hi, since this is your first time using Coldstone, select a game folder, or click to create a template to begin." Something like that. The top button is the Game Creation Factory tool, the bottom is the select tool. Clicking on either requires you to select a folder, but in the Coldstone browser, not in a system version.....
I believe that you have 128MB of physical RAM, don't you? Try upping Coldstone to at least 80MB, if necessary set virtual to about 160MB to do this. Don't run anything in the background (unless you're in OSX, but I seem to remember you being in 9.1) and see if it makes a difference....... if not, trash all of the Coldstone files, preferences etc. on your hard drive, and do a complete reinstall. Then see if it comes up.

All right, will do. I'm gonna re-install first and leave the memory alone, then if that doesn't work I'll up the memory again - I'll have to make another set of extensions with even less in them - the max amout of memory I can get currently is something like 74 megs.
Actually, before I do this, I was snooping around in my coldstone files, and I found something interesting - does this look funny to you?
I think that might be my problem. I ran it straight off of the CD and still no luck - the folder on the CD is like this - does anyone else have this?

{edit - had to go to your site to see pic, nice family shot changed my anwser post pic page viewing}

Hmmm... Weird you had to go to my site. The IMG code is perfect. When I posted, it loaded fine. I also find that if I go to the url of the pic in a seperate browser window then the pict will load itself on this page - really strange. I've been using .gif's because Snapz does it by default, and it's easier than booting photoshop to change it to a jpeg. So, it work's, it's just weird. I also don't have any direct links to those picture from my site, so you would in fact have to go directly to the pict itself.
And thanks, I think that is one of the best family picts we have.
Anyway, back to coldstone. If I was to run it from the CD would the results be at all different? By trashing the current info and then dragging the stuff from the CD off and back to where the old stuff was, will that really fix the problem? It's not exactly like re-installation.
I'll go allot more memory to it, we'll see if that does anything.
Nope, I gave it 95 megs of ram in a set that had incredibly few extensions - nothing. I'll try installing again, I just don't see anything else. I have a feeling it's just some inherent problem with the hardware in my computer.
Re-Installation did nothing.
The program boots, it won't work from there.
