What is #Coldstone? -------------------
#Coldstone is an IRC channel (see below if you don't know what IRC is) that allows real-time chat for discussing Coldstone with other game designers and developers.
Please respect each other in #Coldstone -- let's keep the level of discussion at least somewhat civilized and productive. We've just put this channel together, so give it a little time to get up to speed.
How do I join in on the chat? -----------------------------
Set up your IRC client (see below if you do not have an IRC client) to join the private Ambrosia server:
irc.ambrosia.net
(because this is our own server, we will not be affected by net splits, lag, and other such nonsense)
Once you are connected to the IRC server, join #Coldstone by whatever means your client provides (for Ircle, it's a menu item), or type:
/join #Coldstone
What is IRC? ------------
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat; it's a rather geeky, archaic system of chat (similar to AOL's chat room), but it works fairly well, and is accessible by anyone around the world.
In order to chat on IRC, you'll need a client. Some popular Mac clients are:

I'm sure there are others; Ircle is by far the most popular Mac IRC client, however it isn't free, and it will eventually stop working if you don't pay for it (it's well worth it).

But of course! But I've only seen you there since.... Tuesday, I suppose for you. I mean in the past three or four months, I've spen at least three hours connected to the channel, sometimes more at different times, and seen noone apart from myself, hector and zambezi.
And Celchu, if you're online and see my name on the bottom of the 'active members' list on the boards, I'm almost certainly also on IRC, and connected to #coldstone. By my time zones, I'm available after 8pm four nights a week, and 9pm five. But that's very early in the morning for you. We'll have to try to coordinate something I suppose... incidentally, while I'm there, try joining channel #nameofourgame ( ;)) I'll be there.

DITCH SHADOW IRC! GET ATHENA IRC! veryverygood,stable,free,and runs on OSX. just not great for admins.

It's nice that they have this, but I still think it would be really cool if there were a Coldstone mailing list...
It's possible that IRC was down when you tried -- have you tried more than once?
What port is it set to? I think it is supposed to be 6667, though I'm not positive on that one.

did you type in irc.ambrosia.com or irc.ambrosia.net? it needs to be .net.
As for AthenaIRC, it is only free if you only use it for a single server, like irc.ambrosia.net. If you use it for another server, then you have to pay up. (Edit: problems with my signature)

Yes. It's probably set to not send/listen at port 6667... talk to the admin about it.
