This probably has already been answered, but what will the Opperating System be that Coldstone will run on? Last I heard it was both....

Macintosh platform is certain, Windows seems likely.

I took a look at the progress log, it said nothing at all about the Windows version of Coldstone. We have seen other signs that ColdStone will be available on Windows, but Dee is keeping a tight lip on this.

I'd like to see it go on both platforms: It'll give ambrosia some more cash.

I believe there was a call for Windows beta testers, so I think there is a good chance it will be for Windows, also. However, I suppose there could always be some big problem where they decide not to.

Don't try to lie by saying you hope its both for the good of Ambrosia. Now, you MAY be sincere, but human characteristic is much more selfish most of the time. Most likely story, you hope its both so you can use it. Cynical? Maybe. True? Probably.
Anyway, as stated in the last progress log, the first release will have a Mac only editor, but will compile into Mac or Windows. I can't speak for future releases and updates however.

There's evidence all over the place that it's for Windows and Macintosh. There's a beta screenshot of it running under both, the last two progress log updates mentioned both, there are icons for both next to Coldstone on the upcoming page. It's going to be for both.
I heard that the editor is Mac only, but the games you make are cross platfrom.

Can it be any simpler than this?
Dee Brown in lastest update to Coldstone Progress Log: ** Coldstone will be initially released for Macintosh only but will compile stand-alone games in a single click for MacOS8/9, MacOSX, and Win95/98/ME/2000/XP (multiple platform compiler is included in B5).**

Yes, but there is a bit of disagreement; whats the point of it making windows games if it cant run on windows.... unless the compiler (editor) runs on windows, that feature will be kinda useless. Also, it have been implyed (and i really do want it on windows ;))

Taken from most recent Progress Log Update: Coldstone will be initially released for Macintosh only
So therefore, it implies that although it will initially be released for Mac only, it will eventually find it's way to Windows & OSX. Actually, I don't know whether it will be released for Mac Classic only, or Mac Classic & X when it is first released. Anyone?
Well, I'm hoping for X. I don't really want to have to use Classic any more than necessary.

It will be released for both classic & X.

Er, what you're saying doesn't make sense. The point of having Coldstone (the editor) be able to compile the actual game for any platform is so that Mac users can do all their work on their Mac, then they can check a box, and they can compile a game so it will run on Windows.
This means a Mac user can make a game and release it for both Windows and Mac.

Excellent! Thanks a lot Dee!

Good news, but I'm curious... Is coldstone done in Carbon? In other words: will you need Carbon Lib installed to run Coldstone (on OS 9 or earlier). I actually have no problem either way. Just curious. Also, will the created games be in Carbon. I'm pretty sure they are, but I thought I'd just be sure.

I'd assume so. PoG requires CarbonLib 1.4, I think, so that would imply it's in carbon. Doing it in Cocoa would just be too much work, and for a simultaneos release, they'd almost certainly have done Carbon.
