What about Coldstone now?

Now that Pillars of Garendall, the first Coldstone game ever, (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/pog/")has been released(/url), I can go back to Coldstone. If PoG is ready, then at least the MacOS8/9/X compiler should be ready too right? So the only things left should be the Win32 compiler and the editor itself (with its wizards, graphic libraries, etc.)?

Exactly.

There were two things missing from the win32 compiler: Quicktime movie support and the ASW registration system. Quicktime movies are now working perfectly well. Technically, as soon as we receive the reg libs, we are all set. Vince is now working on some other minor issues.

On my side, I'm packaging and testing what will be a new candidate for the testers. You won't believe it but the full package of Coldstone is quite heavy and it takes a couple of days only to put everything together. Oh, and did I mention that the full CD version of Coldstone will contain additional non-medieval artwork?

Argh! Some top secret screenshots just slipped from my hard drive!

So we're looking at 2-6 weeks until CS CDs arrive at some of our doorsteps?

:frown: I've been waiting for PoG with anticipation to see just what the Coldstone Editor might be able to do. While it seems the handling of sprites, layering and events seems to be together, the graphics appears to be locked to 640x480 software rendering. Modern gamers expect at least 800x600 and many have graphics acceleration. The way I see it, unless high rez graphics are supported this is going to be a major non-event.

Does anyone have an idea of what the system requirements are? I only have a 6500/225, and after the big disappointment of PoG, (which I believe requires a G3) I am getting rather nervous about this. :frown:

PoG is great, but it suddenly wont let me load my character, and it says I cant explore anymore!!! .....

Um...do you have the registered version, or the demo?

This would probably be more appropriate over in the PoG forum.

You just have to load your game by double-clicking on your save file while the game is NOT running... Have fun !

Greetings, all-powerful archmage!
Finally, you have done it again, as it should have been so many years ago, the archmage powerful enough to gain possession of the ultimate spell. Armageddon is a powerful and frightening spell, as devastating to yourself as to mankind. You will no longer be eligible to receive protection from the council. From now on, you are on your own. Good luck, and may your powers be with you.

Is there any specific date when CS will come out for windows 98? If so is there a downloadable version? I'd also like to know the system requirements for a windows PC thanks!

This is not true at all. You'll be very happy know that you can make a game any size you want (any size that would be do-able with a computer). Well, that's what they told me atleast.

You'll probably want to run at a lower resolution for a higher frame rate anyway since I don't believe Coldstone supports hardware acceleration.

I'm not sure about system requirements, but there is no date for Coldstone's release for Mac or Windows. You can't download it yet for either platform. My bet is that after it's released, there will be a downloadable version. Ambrosia has done it with all their products, after all. 🙂

Well you can download a demo, can't you? 🙂
(Oh well, I've got better things to do than argue with you.)
