Lifatah Dy'Cors- this blade was named for the famous shadeling villainess, Lifatah. In the shadeling language, Dy'Cors means "end", so this blade is assumed to have killed Lifatah. It appears that some of her evil power has soaked into the dagger-like weapon and it has several magical attributes. First of all, it subtracts 10 HP from your maximum amount, but it adds 10 to MP. Secondly, it deals a lot of chemical damage to any enemy it strikes.
Druidic Axe- This is a variety of axes, stolen from people attempting to cut down a Druid's grove of trees. The axes are adorned with magical leaves by the Druids of that particular grove. Sometimes the axes may even have the skull of their previous owner attached(the person foolish enough to harm a Druid's trees). Druidic Axes are a favorite among exceptionally zealous Druids, as they love the irony of destroying the homes of the lumber choppers with their own weapons. Druids only attack lumber choppers if they do not heed cryptic warnings, often sent by the Druid's Totemic Familiar(a pet of sorts).
Cloak of Quenching- This cloak is very beautiful, as it has an ever moving oceanic view magically etched onto it. It offers maximum protection against fire based attacks, and all fire creatures that attack the wearer often find themselves consumed by the cloak, forever destroyed.
Ring of Midnight- A ring made of DoomGold(a strong, valuable, but sometimes evil metal), the Rings of Midnight were created by accident when the spell 'MoonStrike' misfired. There are 4 in all, and they are extremely valuable. Rings of Midnight grant the wearer immunity to Holy Magics that intend harm(great for dueling priestmagi) and immunity to poison(those venom-assasins aren't nearly as effective when you're immune to 'em!).
Circlet of the Seers- This is a "special" item, and can only be worn in certain in game cutscense during the course of the game. The Circlet allows the wearer to see into the future, but it can only be used 4 times.

I figured that instead of starting a new thread, I'd go back about 30 days and revive this one to post an idea I had tonight. You who have watched Star Trek at least a few times know that Warp speed is hundreds, maybe even thousands of times faster then light, right? So what would happen if you had a gun that launched BBs(or some other kind of metal slug) and maybe warp 0.01. It would have relatively no kick(the gun), but the weapon would have incredible power, speed, and accuracy. If you were to make a futureistic RPG, you might have a warp-like speed for ships, and then have some genious invent a weapon that propells small metal slugs at sub-"warp" speeds. The air around the bullet alone would rip a person's flesh off thier bones even if the shot went 5 feet off to one side, and if the bullet hits a solid, it would basically turn it to dust(shatter from force of hit, melt from wind friction). Even if the shot was sent into warp for 1/100 of a millasecond, it would still be an incredibly powerful(and expensive) weapon.
Thoughts, additions, etc.? Critisizm?

a linear accelerator with a trigger? hmm... they tried the same idea in Eraser , and that's what the rail gun in Q3 is supposed to be. I've never been a big fan of the concept (it takes enormous emounts of energy to power up a magnetic accelerator of any strength, and so couldn't be hand-held), but you can run with it if it fits in your sci-fi game (or just make it a fun easter egg in a medieval game: pike and shield vs. rail gun). anyway, I don't feel like working right now, so here are some numbers:
.01 X warp 1 (warp "1" is speed of light) = 3,000,000 meters/sec = 6,696,000 miles/hour. yes, that would certainly pack a punch. much like dropping a marble off a tall building. it don't hurt from 1 foot above the ground, but it'll crack pavement from 1000 ft.

While a railgun would have a similar effect, the "warpgun" would use principles similar to the railgun. However, a warp nacelle(sp?) on a starship takes a massive amount of energy to project a huge field of effect over basically something the size of a city. The warpgun would take a fairly small amount of energy and project a very small field around something the size of a pebble. Just get a power supply that puts off just snough energy(tiny matter-antimatter chamber, maybe 4 inches long would do), and a very small replica of a warp engine, and make it project the field into the barrel and only the barrel, and when a bullet reaches the field, it is instantly thrown at about 1/100 the speed of warp one, which is at the very least 2x the speed of light. By definition, warp speed is "a method of faster then light travel," so warp 1 would have to be faster then light. Also, in one of the Star Trek movies, with the first ever use of warp by the guy who "invented" it, he went to a neighboring solar system in about 10 seconds of warp 1.

hey, who said anything about expertise? I'm just reading popular science and doing division on my apple-menu calculator.
If any of you have ever played the Rifts paper and pencil RPG from Palladium, the warp gun probably reminds you of the Glitter Boy's Boom Gun. It's a rail gun like in Eraser, but I think it's a little more realistic. It fires maybe 200 small metal pellets at the speed of sound, producing a sonic boom every time it's fired, hence the name Boom Gun. No mortal man could wield such a gun, so it's attached to a giant robotic suit of armor that stands over 7 feet tall. When the gun is fired, metal pylons shoot into the ground from the legs ten feet deep to stabilize the Glitter Boy and the suit is sealed so the sonic boom doesn't hurt the pilot. I think this is one of the most well thought out rail gun designs and is fairly realistic, considering what it is. Although it's your RPG and you can do what you want, I think it would maybe be a little more realistic if your warp gun had to be mounted on a robotic suit or a large vehicle or something, considering how much power it would take up. Just my thoughts.

Who says games should be realistic anyway?

I happen to like a little realism in my games but I realize not everyone feels the same way. But realism is the route many new games are taking. Look at Gran Turismo 3 or Metal Gear Solid 2. Two of the biggest games of the year for any platform and they both feature insanely realistic details. Now before I get a ton of people counting off all the big games coming out that aren't realistic, I'd just like to say I realize realism isn't the end all be all of games. Unrealistic games can be just as fun as a realistic one. I'm just saying I like a little realism in my games, that's all.
Yeah, who said anything about my game being completely real? The weapon's idea has many holes in it, as has been stated by those in just chat who saw my other topic on it(please don't go read it, it was embarrasing). I've been told a few things are the biggest holes in it: The bullet would burn up upon firing(my counter to that: has a built-in cooling system of some kind in each bullet) The amount of barrel required to accelerate the bullet to warp 0.1(apparently 1/10th the speed of light according to them) was far more then I had in my idea There would be a kick, according to them, but I said that if there was sufficient space between the barrel and the bullet and that if there was not an explosion in the gun, then there would be little or no kick compared to how they thought it would work It would have to be much bigger, seeing as the warp nacelles in Star Trek were huge(my counter: The field would have to only affect a few square inches, while the ones on the Enterprise require the field to cover basically an area half the size of a city for each nacelle(sp?), as the ship was about the size of a small city) And several other things.
But, again I say, who said my game was realistic?

You asked for any thoughts or criticism and I was simply giving my thoughts and criticism.

I like some realism in my game, but games like Rainbow Six annoy because they are too real. Being killed from one pistol-shot annoys me.

Games break the laws of physics ALL the time. And sometimes, it's on purpose, to make the game more appealing. Who would want a gun that you had to carry with a forklift? And who made everyone the expert on such warp-speed technology? While some arguements are common sense, last time I checked, they hadn't been invented yet.
I might suggest that the keyword here is not "realism," but "plausibility." Don't worry too much about making your game realistic, but do make an effort to make it believable.

ahh, precious precious items.. well, here's a few ideas I have so far (and I only have a minute, cuz my girlfriend is yellin at me to get off teh damn computer cuz we're goin to dinner)
executioner's axe: this incredibly powerful axe can quite easily cleave a fully grown musk ox in two with little to no effort by the weilder. Legend has it that it was forged by the god of War and himself, enchanting it so it would never dull, only get sharper (not unlike Katanas ). And usually, those who meet the buisness end never leave in one piece.
and..
Boneswords: these feindish weapons were carved by skilled (and some say morbid) artisans out of the bones of fallen dragons (and, as a result are quite rare and expensive). And those who are wounded by them, rarely recover, due to the exteremly fine serraed edgeing on the blade, which cuts flesh in a jagged, and rather messy manner, making it hard for wounds to heal.

Hmm, more items you say? How about: Amithyst Blade - A sword made entirely of Amithyst, it is obvoisly made with magic. No normal sword made of stone could survive more then a few blows, but this legendary sword has three different colors of dried blood on it: red, green, and black. Near it's resting place where you found it lie the rotting and decaying corpses of eight humanoid creatures with scales with dried red blood around them, a giant black spider with dried black blood around it, and a horde of small demon-like creatures with dried green blood. You have no doubt that this sword would last a long, long time, as it already has... Strange Gold/Silver Sword - This sword seems to be mad of silver with a gold lacing all through it. When you lift it, you find it supprisingly lightweight, even lighter then if the weapon were made of aluminum and brass. When you swing it, you hear music playing, and when it strikes something, the blade glows green for a moment. Where it struck the wood, the wood itself is slowly disintigrating. It seems you have found a powerful magical blade. Falcon's Bow - A strange bow rests agenst the body of one of your enemies. When you pick it up, you immediatly feel stronger, and you feel more accurate. To test this, you put a target 500 feet away and shoot an arrow in the general direction of the target. You hit a bull's-eye. You try again, aiming to the left of the target, and again you hit a bull's-eye. You think to yourself, "What am I going to do with a bow that never misses? Arrows of the Falcon's Eye - "These enchanted arrows actually guide themselves to whichever enemie you are thinking about when you fire them. They will not stop until they hit thier target, even going through the strongest of barriers. The arrow may break before it gets there, but usually at least a sliver will hit them." says the man at a shop in the back all of a black market. He seems to have been telling the truth about all the other tiems you've bought from him in the past, why would he lie now?
Cool!
What about assembled items (like from Baulder's Gate). For really strong weapons/armour/items, you have to find pieces and then pay for them to be built....

If you are asking if it is possible, I think you could set up a "trigger"(special event) in which you give someone the parts that you're carrying around as well as some gold, and(maybe after a timer for waiting for it to be assembled) the person gives you the assembled item in return.
