Tradition, now, and I do it because I like order (though there's certainly nothing wrong with randomness).
That makes sense, I guess. Makes it easier to look up who's playing, since you don't have to search through the whole list, just the section that starts with the correct letter.
Besides it usually ends with me at the top of the list. So NO COMPLAINING!
Unless 1Eevee1 or Anon is plying.
