How can you make explosions in Strata 3d?

Well, you might be able to make pseudo-explosions using flares, or metaballs. I generally just use Ares' default ones.

Yeah, you can put three balls together and add a flare effect but it might look stupid. A cool explosion is the Super Nova explosion and it's alredy in the resources you just have to look for it. (Hint: the resource is somewhere in the 500's)

Nooooooo! Don't use the supernova! Not yet! Just let me use it in my plug first! I want to have something different for once!

I suspect that many of the plugs that come out will use the supernova explosion. WITV already has it being used, and probably many of the plugs that come out before WITV will have it.

Yeah, M:Inv uses it for Orbital Platforms - what else could you use for something that almost fills up the screen even at 2:1 resolution?
I think I meant to say 1:2
Yes, that would make the point more, well, dramatic.

In case you're interested, I made the human-ship-gets-killed explosion for Earth Quest using the Fire extension with Strata StudioPro 2.5. The neutron missile's was made using a spinning half-lathe and pixel dust. Fire for the nuke, and the most recent one in Resubmitted is 2 balls getting flamed at unsynchronised frames whilst also being givn PixelDust to spill out red dots everywhere. Anyway I might make some for you except they're a real pain even with Studio.
I think you can make them wiht flares, but it's a toughie. Here's my advice:
1 create a ball and give it an invisible texture. 2 create several other balls and give them the same treatement. 3 give the invisible main ball your big flare, edit it to custom time and have seconds 1-2 light the ball up, 3-9 maintain it, (while juggling the values slightly to make it realistic) 10-15 cooldown. 4 this is the hard part, make about 3 other flare values, and use your (preferably more than 17) balls inside the ball. The first small ball flarflae will be simulating off-shoots, the second will be delay-action offshoots (you could use more than one) and the third is some drifting wreckage. Don't have a lens on and don't use plasma or rays. Of course, this is all theorotical. And if you're very good you good do it, but as I said, animations are a real pain because you can't see them except by rendering the whole thing.

Well, since I;m planning on buying the S3D plugs, those should come with the fire and pixiedust extensions. I'll try the flare later. Thanks
