Question about selling ships

Could someone explain to me the mechanics of shipyard spaceship appraisal in the PC version of EV Nova? My understanding is that the exact amount of credits you're expected to pay is equal to the Cost field in the ship resource, but is there anything at all that could discount this amount by, say, 10-20%.

Example:

I have created replacement data for Nova by building off of AbsoluteMinimum (similar to a typical TC). I have added several new ships, one of which is supposed to cost exactly 15,000 credits. However, it consistently shows up, in-game, as 14,100 credits (even when calculating escort dues and the trade-in value).

Every ship I have added does this; regardless of associated govt, standard weapons, the cost field, or any other conceivable thing that could do so. It even discounts an arbitrary percentage for each ship. There are no ranks or control bits active and I am using EVNEW to create the plugin.

I thank anyone who can relieve me of this curse in advance...

Outfits that come with the stock ship are also figured into the resale price. For example, if I have Ship 128 that costs 15,000, but has one included outfit that retails for 1.5 million, the ship value will go up significantly for resale. Don't know if that's your problem, but that's the most likely thing that comes to mind for me right away.

It's not. The initial sale price when you're buying the ship, in a shipyard, is the problem. It's like the base value is what's being decremented.

I noticed this a lot in the original EVC, too. Ships and outfits would cost more on Earth than anywhere else in the game (or was it less on Earth?). I figured it was just Earth's economy changing the prices, but I never could figure out how to force it happen on a planet through plug-ins or data file edits. I've seen the same thing, though not quite as noticeable, in EVO, EVN, and all ports of EVC and EVO for EVN. But I'm stumped where the cause is concerned.

Thank you for pointing that out. I went to another planet in another system, and everything had the prices that I had set. One thing I noticed is that the Earths in EVO and EVC had Spob ID 128 and, in the case of EVO, were in Syst ID 128. I guess this price thing happens on any stellar object named Earth or any Spob with the ID 128, either way it makes no sense. Does this happen in the Mac version of Nova too?

Well, since I'm on a Mac, I would have to say it does.

Now that's strange. Why would Ambrosia add this feature, especially if it only affects one stellar object?
