how do you create a new snd resource in mission computer?

Ive been trying to put in a new sound for my tractor beam plugin but I cant figure out how to create a new snd recource. :huh: I would appreciate it if someone let me know how to do it.

Hmm, what about extracting audio from plug-in in MacIntels then?

If you have QuickTime Pro (any version, or in fact any audio editing app) then copy/paste. Theoretically, ConText should be able to convert snd s to individual sfil files which can then be batch converted by some other utility but in my experience ConText just craps out when it encounters a snd .

I actually have a different and rather idiosyncratic work-flow that involves two versions of Sound Studio: an old one that can write System 7 snd files, and a new one that only reads snds, but is more compatible with Tiger. I wouldn't necessarily recommend my overall method to others, but here's a bit that might work with other apps and avoids QTPro: I can open an old Classic Mac OS sound file ("Wild Eep," for example) in MissionComputer, delete the snd resource, and paste in a single sound from an EV Nova plug file. When I then open this Frankenfile in Sound Studio, I get the EVN sound, ready for creative mangling.

Yeah, well as it says in the guide, a System 7 Sound is nothing more than a file of type 'sfil' containing a 'snd ' resource. If there's more than one 'snd ' resource the lowest ID will be used. So your file isn't actually a 'Frankenfile', it's a perfectly ordinary system 7 sound 🙂 (in fact you could probably do it more easily by pasting the resource into a new plug and setting the type code from within MC).

Have you tried just copy/paste into Sound Studio? It probably won't work from MC but if you use Rezilla or something it should be fine.
