rlë8 & rlëD

Do I need both?

What is the difference between rlë8 & rlëD? Can I just use rlëD and not have duplicate rlë8's?

Thanks,
Trinix

rlë8s are 8-bit files, while rlëDs are 16-bit. You only need rlëDs for Nova plug-ins.

Wow, that was fast. Thanks Archon for the info. 🙂

Theoretically, leaving out the rlë8 might cause trouble for anyone trying to run your plug-in on a very old Macintosh that doesn't support EV Nova in 16-bit mode, but I don't think such computers form a large part of the user base. (The Windows version of the game apparently uses the rlëDs no matter what your bit depth is.)

Interesting, I'll include a note of that. Thanks for the elaboration David! 🙂

Just to add to what David said, I would think such computers form an insignificant part of the user base. I would never bother with rle8s.

Yeah, I always figured it wasn't worth it given how much space large sprites can take up.

I remember having so much trouble before I figured out that I needed rlëd's. I was making all rlë8, and it was really frustrating to re-import them. It started working, though.
