Spriting...

How does one ACTUALLY do it?

I am wondering how ships should be rendered for spriting.
i.e. Angles to Camera, amount of frames, type of output file etc.
I am talking spefically about 3ds Max, However. Does anyone use it? And, if so, how does one sprite a ship. (The ship I am currently thinking of doing is the 'Claimer', Which I made recently.)

Also, If anyone could be bothered, a tutorial on how to add this to EV:N via EVNEW.
