Anyone who has used EVONE or MC, help!
I am working on a plugin for a new ship. I have done graphics in Graphic Converter. I loaded them into the plugin using EVONE. I have resources, for ship shan pict desc done for it, but I don't know how to link them together so that it knows that this desc goes with this ship, ewhich goes with this shan, etc. Anyone who knows what to do please help me out. I have tried with both EVONE and Mission Computer, but I just can't figure it out. I figured most of the stuff out by using existing ships as models, but I am lost. Erik
Here's what I know:
-shäns link to RelD or PICTs directly, so the ID# of the PICT/RelD doesn't matter, so long as it isn't interfering with anything else. At least for the base sprites.
-I'm not completely sure of the link between shďps and shäns, but I believe that a given shďp corresponds to the shän of the same RID.
-Target PICTs must have RID: (3000 + shďpID - 128).
Here's what I don't know:
-What RID to use for shipyard PICTs, descs, etc.
I'll put all the info together:
dëscs: Purchase: 13000 + shďpID - 128 Hire: 14000 + shďpID - 128
PICTs: Target: 3000 + shďpID - 128 Shipyard: 5000 + shďpID - 128
shän ID = shďp ID
And the large pic of the ship in the info dialog is linked using the Graphic field of the ship's purchase desc.
Thanks folks, I'll try this stuff out and get back to you if I can't get it to work, for some reason.
Sooooooo, something interesting happened... I made a variant of the ship, for the heck of it, but that's not when the problems appears. First, when you go to the shipyard, if you go into the info for the ship (the Titan) it stays for a sec, then the game crashes. I don't know why for sure. Also, i bought the ship, and flew it around a little and discovered a very interesting problem. The sprites don't always line up with the direction of the ship. There is no graphic for the ship as it is flying between 270 and 360 degrees (9oclock-12oclock). The ship however continues to fly in those directions, though, which means you might be flying with the ship facing sideways with the guns appearing to come out of the side. The good news is, the engine glow and ship line up, so there aren't phantom lights, but it is really disorienting to fly in a different other than opposite the engine glow. Anyone interested in helping me with this? I can email it as an attachment if you email me at elutjen@vt.edu so maybe you could take a look at it to see if you can figure out where I screwed up. I worked on it with both evone and mc and did graphics (not that good) on Graphics Converter, using each one for certain things. I apologize that the graphics aren't great (hey I am a music major, what can you expect?). Mac version only. Thanks. Erik
About that second problem, you probably have some messed up fields in the shän. Check on that.
Thanks again guys for the help. I have figured it out using your advice. I have solved all of the bugs. The only things wrong with the plug are my graphics. I did mostly cut and paste type stuff using the leviathan, so since things aren't perfectly lined up, the ship kind of looks like it shivers. Also, when I used the mask generator, it took out the little spots on various places on the ship, so it kind of looks like the ship has small holes in it. But these are things that can easily be looked past unless you are a perfectionist. The ship works and is in the game. One more question: is there a way to convert to a .rez for pc or do i have to start from scratch?
Why do you want to do that? If you're wanting to make sure PC users can use it as well then just follow the Plug-in Distribution Guide. If you really do want to though then just browse through the utilities section. There's at least one in there somewhere.
Here is the Mac-to-PC convertor.

Actually, that seems like the PC-to-Mac converter for Mac.
I'll check these out. I don't really plan on any distribution...yet. I might continue work on this one and expand it even more, but time is a scarce resource for me, so we'll see. I just wanted my brother to be able to use the plug. Unfortunately, the only computer he has at his house is a PC, so that's why I ask.
Ah, okay. The PC Nova comes with a Mac->PC convertor so all you need to do is bin it and he can do the rest.
Whoops, double post.

Oops. Sorry. It's RezConv I was thinking about.
