I have noticed that the PoG board is an awful lot friendlyer than some of the other boards. My compliments to the moderaters for their good job on this board. Although one comes to mind immediatly, Stark Bledfast does an exceptional job. And no this is not a reverse pshcholgy trick to get karama. I serious. Good job.

Stark is the only active moderator. The other moderators seem to have left :frown:.

It is indeed a friendly and helpful place, perhaps more so than any other forum. Most of the members who visit here do not know how to kindle a flame. I hope it stays that way.

You will find a lot of agreement on that. But don't worry, it takes more than a buttering up to coax a karma point out of any of the moderators. Karma points usually come when you least expect them, at least they have for me. ~RD

Indeed. My first karma point was (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum69/HTML/000458.html#1")here(/url). The reason was: Thank you, come again! -mrxak
My second point came from (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum61/HTML/001383.html#19")here(/url) and the reason was: Alright. -- Stark
On my second point, I just wanted to have others acknowledge that I suggested the solution to the problem. But Stark (whom I am eternally grateful for) gave me a karma point.
So as you can see, Karma comes when you least expect it. Always be on you best behavior

Eternally grateful? I think you're stretching things a bit for something as minor as a karma point...
Stark is the only active moderator. The other moderators seem to have left
ArcAngelCounterstrike and I are really the only two moderators of the board. Dee is Dee Brown, President of Beenox and creator of the game PoG. His position is more or less honorary as he created PoG but he hasn't been around in over a year. David Dunham is an employee of Ambrosia Software and has the position of Administrator on these web boards. As such he can effectively moderate any of the boards on this system without being listed at the top. He also pretty much just stays on the Help is on the Way web board answering tech support questions. He will occasionally browse the boards and post in topics that interest him, but generally leaves moderation of the individual boards to the moderators.
AAC is around. He doesn't post much on here because, frankly, this board doesn't need much moderation. Everyone seems to do well here.

Sheesh, what a
...hehe jusk kidding with you. Karma isn't all that important, so don't worry about it. Mine came from finding easter eggs and releasing some plugs (one came from Stark, he seems to be karma-happy to PoG members :p). Anyway, nice to have another PoG-er around.

Well, I guess that I got a little carried away. I know that it isn't anything to worry about (unless it's deep in the negatives). So instead of being eternally grateful, I'll just wish everyone (especially Stark), a nice day.

Wow...13 posts. But anyway, even if you go in the negatives, each 20 posts brings you one less in the negatives (unless you spam for them, or are -10...). But anyway...I'm going to bed now.

He actually spammed in ten different topics.
I love idiots. They make me feel so much better about myself
I was actually planning on giving him a bogus license code; something along the lines of:
Name: Cornholio of Bung Code: 5HU7-73H-FUKK-UP
But, alas, he had already been banned by the time I got there.

wait im confused what on earth are karama and whats a moderator:cofused:
A moderator is a person who monitors the forum that he or she is assigned to. They have the power to delete posts, delete topics, edit anybody's posts, lock topics, and so on. Basically, if somebody does bad stuff, they get to clean it up. If you look at the top left corner of any forum (where all the topics are listed) you can see who moderates the forum. The moderators for the PoG webboards are: Stark Bledfast, ArcAngel Counterstrike, Dee, and David Dunham. Stark explained the status of each of these moderators earlier in this topic. Oh, and if you ask to be a moderator, you won't become one, so don't try.
If you click (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubbmisc.cgi?action=getbio&UserName;=miclemass")here(/url), the pink text will explain it (click on the info button in the bar of any member's post to get to that screen).

From the web board guidelines:
Karma is a measure of a person's standing on the web boards; 0 is neutral, negative is bad, positive is good. Everyone starts with neutral (0) Karma. Moderators can warn (lower karma) or praise (raise karma) people based on their posts. If your Karma has been affected by a moderator, you will be eMailed the details of why your Karma was affected, and by whom. If Karma becomes too negative (-10 or worse), that person is banned from the web boards until a moderator raises their Karma.
If you follow the these web board guidelines, you will not have a problem with your Karma.
From David Arthur's explanation of karma:
The highest level of karma you can get through the normal progression is 15. You can continue to receive points beyond that, but they won't show up on the web board. The lowest you can go is -10, at which point you are banned from posting to the web boards. Negative karma slowly goes away as you post, although if your posts are unproductive it will, of course, be lowered again.
Karma often comes when you don't expect it, but for anyone who wants their karma to rise, here's a few things that might help, and will at any rate do good things for your reputation on the boards: (mostly from experience, so no guarantees)
Treat new users like intelligent human beings (which, in most cases, they are, despite any behaviour they may currently be exhibiting) and answer their questions politely and thoroughly.
Don't criticize people's grammar or spelling, as you have no idea how old they are or whether English is even their first language. Of course, if their posts are incomprehensible, it's all right to point this out politely.
Don't post useless messages that don't say anything productive.
Post insightful comments if you can think of any.
Avoid posting angry or insulting messages.
Finally, one really good way to make a name for yourself seems to be to post helpful, polite, and insightful messages in thread where everyone else is being annoying, as sometimes happens in thread about EV for Windows, EV multiplayer, EV3D, EV4, religion, and, strangely, karma.
Of course, not all karma happens for easily understood reasons. There will always be moderators who give it for reasons known only to themselves. What ever else you do, though, never ask a moderator or administrator to give (or sell) you karma, or you may be unpleasantly surprised.

Just out of curiosity, how do people like Stark Bledfast become moderators? Do the people who run the web boards just ask you?
------------------ I didn't know what to put here, so I just put this down.

You are usually selected and not asked.
As far as how is the selection done? Usually it is due to a person being a part of the web board community for a while, as well as being productive in that community.

What if you DON'T want to become a moderator? (yeah, like who wouldn't)

I have also heard that it is for if you are knowledgeable about the game and show a great interest in the game. So basically, if you are an enthusiastic beta tester for a game, you'll likely become a moderator for that game's forums when they are created.

For a new game board, beta testers have a definite leg up for board moderation.

You can always decline and/or resign. They are sometimes accepted...
