Good Places to use the Tent

Well folks, as you know, the Tent of Decimus can only be used when there are no enemies on the map. You may also have realized that you cannot use it in towns. So, I've made a list of several non-town places that you can pitch your tent in, and have no baddies. Post more places if you'd like:

Septemris' map
Witchfinger tunnel entrance/ Klaxia
Blue Mushroom map
Fayleese's Lab

Untested locations (suspected to work)
Mage's Tower
Swordsman's guild
Upper Berglum
Learning Tree

If UPS and Fed-Ex merged, would they be Fed-Up?
A man who's out to save Gidolan Keep, flies an Auroran ship, and hacks into computers to keep the bricks from falling past the line of destiny? Yep, that's me!

Here's one of my favorites. If you have played WoC through and are using Rock Island to boost your experience points to achieve the next level, duck up into the Temple grounds at the north of the map any time your stamina gets low. Rock Island has the most experience points of any map - over 240,000 if you kill all the Rock Elementals. I have rarely covered that map without taking a hit or two, and with each recharge of stamina at the Temple entrance there's a new set of REs to defeat.

One more: The square just north of the Sea Giants gathered at the east gate of Gidolan Keep. This square originally had the theives who stole the book from the Learning Tree. Once you've recovered the book, they are no longer there, so knock off some Sea Giants, go north to rest, and have at it with the jolly green giants again.

Only two other places I know of. The bottom of the cave on Reefs Island where the magical herbs grow, and the dark clearing in DiD once Princess Ciara has been rescued.

Thought of a few more: The Cyklops' lair once they are cleared out, the Teros bridge map (a very useful location), and Orabas' map.

I'll grant you the last two (with a couple of minor changes in spelling 🙂 ) but the Cyclopes' lair still has Ookwasps in it aside from being so out of the way. I don't know why neither of us thought of the Tearos River bridge on the first round, it is a "natural."

Since the list includes plugins, it would not be complete without mention of a couple more: The chamber with the Pillar's toes prior to engagement with Ratznest (could be very useful), and lastly, Queen Ariana's Courtyard (but not favored because it would be such bad manners to do so.)

BTW, the theory behind not allowing you to use the tent close to towns is that the town fathers would prefer your support of the local Inn merchants. However, this does not hold up in Dernath because there is no place to stay. I, for one, was very pleased when Stark had Fayleese open the well as it provided a much needed rest spot in that neighborhood.

While the topic is "Good places to use the tent" it could also be "Good places to save a game" because all of the places mentioned allow you to re-enter the game with the knowledge that you won't have some nasty creature right in your face as soon as the game opens.

Forgot about the Ookwasps in the lair (And my misspelling is due to the fact that Beenox couldn't decide on a spelling. The monsters themselves, I suppose, are called Cyclopes. The eye is called the Cyklops eye. I remembered the spelling of the eye and used that spelling.

Well, I suppose that this is so that you are more likely to choose the "dinner and bed" ending to the Free Dernath mission.

Actually I was refering to Tearos River and Orobos, but on the subject of Cyclops (singular) and Cyclopes (plural - pronounced sy- klo -peas) those come from the dictionary because Beenox was too lazy to ever look it up.

End of today's lesson. Don't take it too hard, I was just having some fun at your expense. I'm not good at spelling myself, but I try to get the proper nouns properly spelled. ~RD
