After reading the topic about Mac-PC developer dynamics and the suggestions for guides, I thought it might be a good idea to discuss potential 'Official Developer Corner' guides, people to help write them, maybe compile a database of existing guides. So here goes.
- New Developer's Guide : This would be a comprehensive resource written for someone who has never touched ResEdit, EVNEW, or Mission Computer before but has the sincere desire to learn.
- Open-Source EVN Bible : This would be a constantly-updated guide that corrects mistakes and errata in the official release, as well as documenting undocumented features and possibly unique ways to use the engine and known issues.
- EVN Render and Spin Guide : This would be guidelines and tutorials to help people render and spin their models properly.
- Guides database : This would be an easy-to-direct-newbies site housing links to all these guides, as well as existing ones such as the Zombula technique, etc.
Opinions? Ideas? Add some? What do you think?

As archaic as it apparently is, someone shold have a guide to using Mechanisto to make ships. There used to be one avalible online, but it has dissapeared in some kind of website reorganisation... I can't remember who had it for the life of me but last time I looked the whole damn thing was gone. Mechanisto is pretty easy to use and to get decent things out of but frankly the camera is about impossible to move!

You're welcome.
For a starter's guide, I'm working on that a bit with Space Pirate (how ironical when I'm paid by the Miranus to dispose of this bunch), for instance (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/infernostudios/plugdev/starting.php")this(/url) is my work (revised by SP for more consideration of OSX-nativeness, other things, and of course more English-lookingness). Feel free to submit (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/infernostudios/plugdev/submit.html")here(/url). I'll submit more (for instance, a guide about reading the Bible and adapting what it says to your editor, it's impossible to cover them all), but RealLife is keeping me incredibly busy now, as you may see in my lateness in replying.

Just to bump this, I'll take all those pages into consideration for addition to the guide, if the authors won't mind. Like Zacha said, I'm accepting any submissions, as well as links that contain valuable information. RealLife has gotten in my way a bit too lately, with work and all, so I may be a bit late in replying, much like this topic. My email is hypermike ( a ) adelphia ( . ) net, or through that submission page Zacha linked to.
I could easily either reformat the information to fit in with my other information, or I could simply link to it. This guide will be better as more information is submitted, obviously, with time constraints, I can't do it all myself. The site so far is (url="http://"http://evula.org/infernostudios/plugdev/")http://evula.org/inf...tudios/plugdev/(/url) .
Thanks in advance! ~ SP

You call that pitiful? OK, so it looks a bit like your scrappy little cargo shuttle is using the motion of its "arms" to fling toothpicks at its adversaries ( ), but even so -- I'm talkin' 'bout a real pitiful tutorial: how to put an unanimated, non-rotating, single-frame sprite into flight in Nova.
My plan is to post v. 1 of the tutorial when I start my "silly plug" contest, to give newbies an easy path into the wonderful worlds of ResEdit and EnRLE. Sending giant faces and lunch foods into space was a great low-difficulty way to teach oneself plugmaking in the EV/EVO days, and (in my demented opinion) it should be that way with EVN, too.
Later I'll try to expand the tutorial to introduce animation options, which is indeed where this kind of thing gets really wacky and fun.
It's probably a good idea just to bookmark this thread until a better resource arrives. All kinds of gems here.
