Hello, I've been working on a largish plugin (3 or so meg) for some time now and it's approaching a workable state. I've got about eight pages of stuff left to do (and I am sure that these things will insist on more after them) but anyway.
I am looking for some people who would be willing to alpha test this for me- looking for feedback mostly!
I would provide more information but it's late and my wrists hurt from ResEditing and my eyes are about to bleed so if my lapsidasical request has generated any interest, please either respond to this thread or drop me a line at
rmx256 @ aol.com
Thanks, Rik

Consider me PRE-INTERESTED, but I need to know some more information.

I am interested in testing your plugin. I can test either on the mac or pc. My email is:

Thanks.

You should be able to find some beta testers on the (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/003091.html")Master Beta Testers List(/url).

I personally think the beta testers list is just as applicable for alpha testing as beta testing...but anyway, consider me interested as soon as my new disk drive gets here (why the f*ck is it taking so long?!?).
Then again, I'm on the BT list anyway.

The MBTL is for anyone willing to test plug-ins. It doesn't matter if you call it a beta/alpha/whatever, it's still the list to use.

I would be interested, provided that the plug is for EV:N.

Yes, the first clarification is that this is for Nova.
I can send this out friday perhaps, which would allow me time to get 'all' of the ships in, the rest of the missions started and the NCBs catalogued in case anything really wierd happens. So far I need to know why the debuglog insisits that certain planets don't have bar descriptions though they in fact do s (and they display correctly) and why it also states that a reciprocal link is implied but not present in several systems, but in the resources themselves there is in fact both links present (not a bug I guess but confusing).
Please note that in most cases the ships are in thier final state as I do not have acess to the original models to get the banking, light and engine sprites made (plus would ships in 0-g no atmosphere conditions actually bank? I'm not sure), thier designer was generous enough to let me use them. (The graphics that he had avalible, not the the actual 3-d models)

It seems that majority of ships designed in the future, actually have higher climb rate when turning up and down, rather than directly left or right, that's why most pilots prefer re-aligning their ships so that they can make most use of vertical boosters...
Other explanation.: Majority of ship captains are very old WW2 and old earth airplane fans, and also most of the ship captains are like 60-80 years old, and for that, they prefer older style flying, like on their old world with gravity, so their ships are designed to meet their demands
OK, an update here. It's aplugin for Nova, btw.
The plugin this week has grown from 3.5 meg (after the first round of ship additions) to a little under 7 (after the second round of ship additions and the first rounds of outfits and weapons). 90% of the galaxy is complete, all of the governments are invoked and most of the mission strings are planned (missing one or two still in planning) and half are partially invoked. About 50 outfits and a little over 20 ships so far. None of the standard galactic outfits are avalible, except in special trading posts on the outskirts. All the native ships use native weapons and outfits, with the exception of the 200 mm railgun, which I could not find it in my heart to replace.
This is not a TC for Nova, though it probably should have been... It has gotten a lot larger than I ever thought that it would. So far it's over 50 systems packing over 30 spobs far off to the 'galactic northeast', past Ran'e'Sheops and directly over Polaris space, with very few entry and egress points to the standard Nova world, which so far does not interact at all with the galaxy generated by the plugins (though perhaps an invasion by the vicious Federation is possible), and I still have at least ten or more spobs to go to finish up some of the minor houses.
It is very Egyptian influenced, though not in a cheesy Stargate-look-at-my-flying-pyramids kind of way. Expect four magor governments with long (one has 45 missions so far) mission strings, with about fifteen (so far) minor plotlines that are having quite frequent interactions with each other.
It's stable in play (I have created a system with as many ships as I could fit in it just to see if any of mine would crash the game) so far, though there are a few tweaks to work out.
I work two jobs, so I could be delayed a bit more in getting this out for an alpha than I initially thought (plus I keep comming up with more stuff to put in!) but someone asked for more information.
Rik
I would be very interested in testing this if your still looking for testers.

Yes, BTW this has grown into a TC. I'm only going to incorporate the landing pics, roids, planets and weapon spins (plus one or two outfit pictures unless I can find a graphics person (or someone would like to volunteer)). Basically all that will be left are the things that I am not capacitated to do from the stock Nova scenereo.
I just kept running into wierd things happening, like Vell-os ships kept coming in and I had no idea why at all, plus stock misns also would tend to appear after I tried my best to eliminate them.
Is the best route to go to just make a seperate file with all of the OG Nova resources that I need to keep, or the infinate 'blank resources' thing? I don't know if it would be kosher, exactly, to use any of Ambrosia's or ATMOS' work like that, therefore I am asking.

This sounds promising, I would volonteer for graphics work because I have alot of time and I'm willing, but I don't think my skills are up to the job of a Nova TC. I can only make stuff that looks good in EV/O. :frown:
placeholders are worth a go. You only need to create placeholders for the missions and other resorces that will be seen. For instance, in my unreleased micro TC, Bali, I only made placeholders for all missions availible right off the bat in the defult scenario. And I only made placeholder systems for the few systems that can be seen as grey circles when you look at the map. These were placed a good distance away from the active systems using a map program. Unwanted ships and outfits can be avoided simply by changing the root tech levels.
Remember, it's only a small tc, I'm not by any means talking multihundredmegabytes here. I don't have the connection speed to work with anything like that anyway (33.3 through AOL). Kinda a big on plot, not on graphics thing. Most of the graphics were from an unreleased Override TC that the author was generous enough to let me use, anyway.
im definately interested in testing but I can only do pc :frown: (unless i can avoid the teachers long enough to put nova on the macs at my school)
if im in contact me at MrKonstantin@aol.com
(I guess you got way too many testing offers already so I am not getting my hopes up)
I can perhaps send out my last backup before the TC conversion started yesterday saturday or sunday, depending on how much time I can find to finish implementing some things. It has 95% of the systs and spobs (missing those for the Ammunma'atkare family still), the basic mission computer misns, ships and outfs, and most of the intro material. Some wierd things keep heppening (mostly involving outfs that should not be showing up under certain circumstances due to ship type and it's propulsion system, such as the Class A Hyperspace Computer upgrade still being avalible when the Class B is already owned, I think this leads to a crash when jumping out of a syst).
Not avalible are the main mission strings because I am still writing the text on most of them. Is a 7k mission completion description too much? This is much more plot driven than anything else so I am letting the writing go as far as I think that it needs to go...
