A problem with Mission Computer X

Sorry for taking your time but i have encountered a problem with Mission Computer 3.0.2 X
I have created a map of about 20 systems but when i go to load the plugin to fly around and see how my plugin works, all the original nova systems pop up and ugly links appear between my custom systems and the original ones (like Sol and Wolf 359)
I would like to know how to stop the old nova systems from appearing...

Please, if anyone could help me then post a reply
Thanks again 🙂

You have to overwrite the original data. You can do this by removing the data files and replacing them with your own or by creating lots of blank resources in your plug.

With a little more explanations: What is in the plugs in the plug folder just adds to what is inside the data files (the ones in the Nova data folder), the data files (containing the whole Nova scenario) are still there. Now, resources with IDs in plugs replace the ones, if there is one, same ID-numbered resource in the data files, but everything else is left untouched; especially, some systems in the data files say they link to some system ID you replaced, making it link with the replacing system. Think as plugs as an easier and lighter way to distribute little modifications, avoiding to have to replace the whole data file (as was needed with Maelstrom sounds/sprites/whatever, even if only a few were altered), patching the already available data files. Now if you do not want to be based off the Nova scenario, use and distribute your plug as data files needing to be put in the Nova data folder instead of the plug folder. Notice, though, that it will make you require to put your own ships, govts, outfits, and the like, not just systems.

I don't mean to nitpick, but your topic title is misleading. It makes it sound like DA needs to fix something, when really the problem is that you don't understand plug-ins. The problem actually has nothing to do with MC itself. In the future, please try to more properly name your topics. 🙂

Actually I run into a lot of problems with MissionComputer... It will occasionally say that it 'can't save a resource' and will at that point either delete said resource or make an empty one with the same ID. It usually happens with graphics rez's. That little problem is why I am still using ResEdit (and booting back and forth between X and 9 several times an hour to change something and then test it. My Nova won't work for some reason under 9.)

All I use MC for nowadays is map outlining and target pic conversion. Although I think that MissionComputer has a lot of promise I still prefer Nova Tools for everything else.

Hard to tell beforehand that MC itself has nothing to do with the problem. however, now I can indeed tell you, Mr. Jedi Master, that all editors are just variations on allowing a better data entry than filling templates, or worse yet, hex data; save the occasional bug, they all do the same thing, with some interface and time-saving features variations.
