I have lately been trying to add weapon to the starcraft corsair i made, the problem is that i can´t figure how to make the exact effect.. I have treid with a weapon starting away from you with 0 speed and no delay, so that it will follow the ship, and i have used fuel do control it so that you´ll have to stop firing and wait.. in imitates the corsair but it ain´t perfect. I have an idea where i make a invisible shot with incredibly high speed and explosion which looks like the corsair effect. Though this means that you can turn away after you have fired teh shot and face a different direction unlike the corsair.
Which method do you think is the better...?
And if you have other ideas please tell me.

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly are you talking about? Are you trying to get a weapon to charge up before firing, or something similar? While that would be extremely cool, my tests have shown that it doesn't work too well... If your ship has only one weapon, you could pretty easily do it with ship unfolding, but otherwise, you would have to do what you described above... Unfortunately, if you do that, your ship can still turn away from the direction you were firing originally, and the shot would remain in place.
I don't recall, but is there a way to make some weapons fire slower than others? If so, perhaps you should have two primary weapons, one for the charge, and one for the blast, and have the blast be delayed from the charge somewhat.

The effect of a StarCraft corsair is to have a blast appear on the enemy ship, not at all like a weapon firing graphic. I would use an ultrafast, invisible shot that had the burst as an explosion.

The problem with the ultrafast shot is that the minimun delay on a weapon is 1 tic.. i think..very difficult to get the right speed so that the shot appears at the right distance.. How do you make an invisible shot..? Do you need a completely black sprite or is it another way..?

You might want to make it a black single-pixel shot because (I'm really not sure about this) I think that shots need to have a sprite or else Nova won't know how large the shot is.

Why don't you use a thin, black beam? You make the beam 1 pixel thick, set it to be fired below the ship (that's a flag in the wëap resource) and make it explode when it hits. This is how I made a similar weapon for my plugin Dark Swarm. The so-called Transform Cannon basically teleports an explosive onto the target. The beam will only be visible when it fires across a spöb or in colored systems.

Ah... I see... I obviously haven't played SC much.
As for this, use a completely black pixel, and make it translucent. If it is 100% black, it will be completely invisible, even over planets and stars. Make sure you have the pixel white on the mask, or it will not work at all.

Use Arion's beam idea and make it turreted... I think that will give you the behavior you want.

I just tested it and it works fine now... maybe i´ll upload it... I can´t make it turreted...it´s supposed to fire straight forward..
Never made an explosion before :frown:....i spent 2 hours trying to figure out why my spin didn´t apply as an explosion. I then consulted the almighty bible(i almost never do this)
Fitoprince: my hurry was due to the fact that i had 15 minutes left before i had to be in the dojo...practising karate, and trust me..it´s no fun to be late.
I´ll upload this one...since the ships already available for downlaod in some starcraft topic around here(that one has no weapon, this oen will)..I have some other starcraft ships...won´t really release them yet as they might be in a plugin.. Haven´t desided on it yet... It all depends on a friend...if he gets out of the military soon then we´ll probably make a plug.

Yes, the Corsair's weapon is straight forward. But a beam with width = 0 is the same as a beam with width = 1.
BTW, did you find out how to make the explosion?

I love that ship You've done a really good job on the weapon as well, but you seem to have replaced one of the original explosions, as now part of the hellhound explosion is the same as the weapon. Good work
