Zaku, save your money and download blender from (url="http://"ftp://ftp.cs.umn.edu/pub/blender.org/release/Blender2.32/blender-2.32-windows.exe")ftp://ftp.cs.umn.edu....32-windows.exe(/url) . This is the version for windows. Blender is a complete animation suite so you can use it to make 3d models, texture them and animate them. You should also be sure to download the documentation from (url="http://"http://download.blender.org/documentation/BlenderManual.pdf.zip")http://download.blen...rManual.pdf.zip(/url) . Blender has a non-standard interface so it will take some time to get used to. Be patient and keep trying, eventually you will get the hang of it.
There is no easy to use 3d modelling program because 3d modelling is a difficult thing to do. You are better off starting with a free program to develop your skills. If you decide you like it and want to do more, you can always upgrade to a professional program later. Most of the skills you will learn apply to all programs once you learn the new interface.
Good luck.

This is most definitely NOT the way to get people to like you or help you. Getting good quality help on this board is a privilege and not a right. If you antagonize people, they will stop helping you.

Huh, are you talking about spam bots?

I'm planning to set up a shipyard that will include some Nova resorces, mostly weapons but hopefully some ships too.
If you have access to a Mac you can try to find and buy MacFormat Issue 60, it has a free 3D program, called StrataVision 3d, included that was used to make the famous game MYST (pics): (url="http://"http://www.lonelyto25.com/gallery/images/mmpe.jpg")http://www.lonelyto2...images/mmpe.jpg(/url) (url="http://"http://www.lonelyto25.com/myststuff/posters/images/ChannelwoodPoster.jpg")http://www.lonelyto2...lwoodPoster.jpg(/url)
It's not MAYA, but it gets the job done... I've made a few 3D renders with it that have most been stored here: (url="http://"http://www.this.is/alliat/tolvumyndir")http://www.this.is/alliat/tolvumyndir(/url)

Just opening up a program and fooling around isn't a good way to learn how to use it. I'm guessing that's what you did. Try reading all documentation materials that come with the program (you might want to follow along in the program with any examples they give you).

That was originally a PC only list, so the two other programs that are left off are: Mechanisto and Infini-D. Both of which are free, neither of which are supported anymore. Easiest program to use? I think Lightwave, but it's pricy. Course then again, it's not necessarily the easiest to learn. The trick is not how easy the program is to learn, but how patient you are, and how much time you're willing to invest in learning the program. All 3D graphics programs are going to be difficult in one way or another. Some might have short learning curves, but they could also be short on features and you'll find yourself outgrowing the program rather quickly. Pick one program, and stick with it. Post on the image gallery (though read the posting guidelines first, please) and get suggestions, and critiques back. This is the most effective way to learn, in my opinion.

Actually, that's an excellent way to learn. Play around a bit, but read the documentation too. Playing with the program is very underrated.

Unless the makers of Infini-D have decided to release the source code or application into the public domain for general use, Infini-D is still copyrighted and very much not free. It was a commercial application proprietary program when it was suppored and AFAIK, it has not been updated as such. That being said, I highly doubt the company is going to care about a discontinued, unsupported application all that much.

At the very least, it's getting close to being abandonware. The only way you can get the program is if you get it from someone else. As a bit of history, the company that made Infini-D got bought out and it was combined with another program to become Carara.

Right, which is why I doubt that they will relese anything for Infini-D, they used too much of it it Carara and they don't wan't to lose anything. They'd much rather you bought Carara.

Hrm... guess who's speaking crap...
Just playing around with a program is a really good way to get going. It gets you used to the interface, and can teach you the basics a lot quicker than following even beginners tutorials.
I can still remember when I first started playing about with Strata 5 years ago... I figured out how to make primatives, then somehow found out about metaballs, then proceeded to make some quite cool little models. Nothing overly complex or fantastic, but for the time, I thoght they were pretty cool...

I went through that phase, I remember that the day I first learned how the Lathe tool worked was the day I started making space ship looking things. Later I learned how to use Strata Vision's powerful modeler, and now I make things like the Frigate I sent you.
