Read the Nova Bible (there's an up-to-date copy that came with the game) straight through twice, then explore the data files for a while in ResEdit (either with templates or NovaTools), or some other editor. Once you understand what most of it is, make a little plug-in. Nothing fancy, just to prove that you can do things. I'd recommend an outfit or weapon. Please do not release this plug-in, because that's what everyone else does and nobody really cares about it. It's just for you to get the hang of it.
Once you've done that, then you should be able to make your own system and planet.

Some time ago, I posted (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/005007.html#ZachaPedro01-12-200409:50AM")this(/url), the only thing wrong is that only the sÿst resource calls the spöb, the spöb no longer (in Nova oin opposition to EV(O)) tells in which system it is. These functions are called resources, and all have an umlaut somewhere 'cause Apple reserved all combinations of lowercase letters only resource types. To type these umlauts, you do alt-u, then the letter on a Mac, and something else on a PC, except to post them here, where I advise you to put & a uml; for ä, for instance (for better browser and cross-platform compatibility).
