Ok, I'm wildly attempting to do my own ships now. but I've run into a problem, or set of problems.
I need to redo the map for my plug, and I can't make heads or tails out of the X and Y position stuff. The EV developer's map only reads EVC plugs and It can't fit an Override size map anyway. I there an EVO developer's map?
and it would also be nice if someone could tell me how to make strata 4.0.0 save my animation as seperate files.

For your first question check the (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/evo/addons.html")EVO Addons Page(/url) under guides
The second one... why? Its far easier to save your animation as a movie and then use m2s to make a spin automatically There is no need to save your animations separately any more!

Well, you could always draw what you want on paper in relation to existing systems, measure distances to them in units of C where C is the measured distance between two existing systems, so you now know it is aC units + bC units from a known system (where a and b are measurements in C's in the x and y directions). Then use pythag to work out C from the x and y positions of the two systems you defined to be one C apart, and use that to calculate the X and Y positions for your new system.
Um, why are you making an EVO plugin anyway? -Az

number one-I havent registered nova yet.
number two-even when I do I'll be stuck in a strange new engine that I can't figure out.
number three-EVO rocks.
oh yea, and thanks for the maping advice. --------------------------------------------------------------------- m2s? what are they?
m2s is a little application that converts movies into sprites (much like the old one that converts the pics into sprites). You can download it along with pics to sprites at the (url="http://"http://w00tware.ev-nova.net/")w00tware page(/url) at (url="http://"http://www.ev-nova.net/")EV-NOVA.net(/url)
All the best, ewan

I'm downloading it now.
I don't know If I'll be able to use though. I have DeRle and it didn't work.
------------------ EDIT-typical luck, I got an error type 108. I think the problem was that my movie file had some fourty frames instead of 39. but I can't find a frame rate that gives exactly 39 frames, or one that doubles that.

Well, the novatools En/DeRLE tools aren't known for high reliability nor ease of use... mabey m2s will work better. -Az
i figured out my problem. the m2 thingy works fine.
what happened was that my movie had first 41 frames. eventually I figured out how to make it 39 frames and made anathor movie. the problem was that I mistook 6 for 9. the correct number of frames is 36. so I had to set the number of frames to 36. now my ship only turns three quarters of a circle. HOW ON EARTH DO I MAKE MY MOVIE BE THIRTY SIX FRAMES LONG.
please help!
In the Project window, under the FPS, you should go to other, and then type in 36. Then, in the text field left of the window, you should see your current frame out of how many frames total, or some such, that looks like " 1 ( 1 )". Change the number in the parenthesis to be 36. Your movie should now be 36 frames of animation, taking one second to do an entire revolution. There was a tutorial somewhere, but I have no idea as to where it is.
On the point of mapping, both EVONE and MC are able to create EV, EVO, or EVN maps in a visual editor... You could give them a shot.

-edit- I suppose giving the link might be useful (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/ewan/projects/tutorials/spin/")http://www.evula.org...tutorials/spin/(/url) -edit-
Well, here is my old tutorial for making EVO spins. Thanks to Dr. Trowel for the rescue! It should explain everything to you Sorry about the large image sizes and tiffs, its been extracted from an old IE archive and I havent gotten round to fixing it up yet

Really? I've never had any difficulty with them whatsoever.

I have heard lots of people complaining that EnRLE doesnt always work (they have to run it through a few times). Some VALID rle's choke DeRLE. Also, the method by which one must use them is unnessesarilly awkward. It would be really nice if they could be given pict file locations and support batch rleing of large lots of sprites They work, but they are a little dodgy sometimes. As a testament to thier difficulty of use, when Masamune needs sprites RLE'd for Sephil saga, he emails the directory full of image files to me (on my PC), I make a spreadsheet out of a directory listing, fill in the x and y sizes of the picts and thier frames (everything else is handled by formulae), export it to tab-delim text and drag it onto EVNEW, save it as .rez, and mail it back to him. This is far faster than it would have been were he to do it manually - in my experience, it takes mabey as long to do a batch of 30 files this way than it does to do 3 or 4 using EnRLE. -Az (actually, for the picts i have been rleing, it's more complicated cause the masks come mangled, but that would be true nomatter what platform they are encoded on)
