Is it just me or does sea giants that run away and that swing way faster than normal sea giants drop better stuff? (if so, i think stark should add this to his walkthrough and compendium on he section of killing a sea giant...)

The sea giants that run away are added by the Spells Expander plugin. They do not drop "better" items, they drop new items from Spells Expander in addition to the regular items from the standard game. All creatures will drop better and better items as your luck goes up.
