Those examples are both fanart.
The blueprint, however, was made by a true addict, while the other one is just a reinterpretation of other fanart. I'll show you.
But no matter, it is still a very similar shape, and close enough. shrugs
Sorry if I sound rude, I'm kind of harried, as this is finals week in my high school.

Really, that's interesting? It can't render in toon mode either, BUT Strata 3Dpro, which I can get access to (I'm still and unemployed student without a copy for home, and I think I'll get lightwave anyway when I can, but that's beside the point) can do both. So I think your point is valid, yet completely unaplicable in this scenario. Thanks for the input.
Heheh...

I have Strata Pro and I can't import .obj files. If you can tell me how to do it, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Uncle, I have no idea what you're talking about; even the demo can import .obj files.

And yet, when someone recently sent me an .obj file that they had created in Lightwave, I was unable to open it.

Hrm. It appears you're correct twitchy -- but I oculda sworn I imported an obj file from wings... weird.
Erm...in my copy of Wings, there is no export to DXF. I think you'd have to convert it from Wings to Strata before opening it in Strata.

I just tried on my system; Strata 3D 3.0 won't recognize Wavefront (.obj) files.
There are often multiple routes for getting a model from one program to another, but I haven't got a good handle on which formats do the best job of preserving geometry and surface characteristics. Does DXF ever get you more than just a colorless, untextured mesh? Is 3ds always a better bet than 3dmf?
Hmm. I seem to be wandering pretty far beyond Futurama issues. Well, if Iamwallflower finds this digression of use in his modelling, then there still is a link back to the thread topic....

You do it by... you... Oh crap, it looks like I was wrong. The plug exports WRLII files with UV encoded. I was confused because you can export into an obj file, but not import for some stupid reason. The reason I hate this is that if it could import .obj (for some reason I forgot this) I could use a program called UV mapper to... uh... map UV's. As it is I have to projection map and calculate. It sucks.
Originally posted by iamwallflower: **My version can. shrugs Strange.
Can import .obj files? Give it me! Or at least give me version and so on so I can look into it. I need UV mapping (through UV mapper) and I need it bad.
Azdara: You could run it through another app that imports obj and exports into somethign strata can read... like wings! You may lose a bit of quality though.
P.S. I can't stand UVMapper, I do mine just in wings shrugs
Yeah, but unfortunately that kills the UV map and it's coordinates go all wrong.
i can export it to WRL with UV encoded using a plug I have, but I can't use wings because I have a one button mouse. I can't change the preferences to go to one button mouse controll because every time I do that the program crashes.
So I project and calculate. Tedious, but it gets me there.
