Actually, that wouldn't happen. In EVC, he was an annoying freak who jumped in, rattled off a registration phrase, and moved on. He was invincible, but you could still kill him.

In EVO, he was the same, with the addition of stealing a bunch of your credits every once in a while. Same thing about killing him.

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but after about 2 years of playing without a registration (on my dad's flat-panel iMac), Hector stopped shooting at me. He would jump in, flash his little messages and jump out.

Is this a bug that has been fixed or is there a "I guess he's not going to register this one" feature put in Hector?

I remember when Dave from Meowx Design created the Quantumire TC plug-in. He created a "Zeus Head" ship that only Capt. Hector can fly in. I assume that Dave reserved that particular ship ID specifically for that, it was the same ID for the rapier fighter on EVC.

I think some people created plug-ins where you can kill Capt. Hector, I know I did, if you go download the Kamikaze Plug-in. My first version, you had to kill him indirectly by laying a trap for him, but now you can do it directly cause the explosion I modified was overwhelmingly powerful.

Actually, you don't even need plug-ins, at least in the first two games; all you have to do is arrange for several large ships to explode as she flies by. The easiest way is to hire/capture a number of large freighters as escorts, tell them to hold position, and then drop a whole bunch of space bombs over top of them. When Hector flies over, you release them all, they immediately become vulnerable to your weapons and therefore blow up because of the space bombs surrounding them, and the resulting explosion destroys Hector as well (not that it stops her from coming back).

hmm, i used to have EV on my old IIci (yes i know that is an old computer... but i upgraded it so much it was smoothly running OSX) and never bothered to register... because that was all he ever did! i don't think he shot at me once! (once i got it for pc, i was forced to register after he slaughtered me multiple times)

EDIT: HA! HA! HA! i just made a new kill hector plug...
