Magic Mirror Troubles!

I was playing Trinity Spells expander, and learned "Magic Mirror". I cast it, then I got into a battle and used an offensive spell. Later, when the Mirror should have dissipated, it stayed. Its been with my character ever since, getting in the way. I think that if you have a Mirror up, and you cast a spell, it stays. Does anyone think it's possible to erase it?

I don't know, I'm sure.

iirc, this is a known bug. When two timed spells are active, one or both will not end, hence your problem. Maybe Stark needs to figure out an unsummon/unmirror type spell for this sort of case.

Magic Mirror doesn't use the standard PoG spell timer that has this bug; it uses its own timer and thus this should not happen.

Nadir: Are you using another plug-in such as Worlds of Cha0s? And if so, are you using this spell in one of the new areas?

No, I wasn't using WoC at the time ( I didn't even know about it at the time). Also, on the topic of spells, none of my teleport spells work. I always end up somewhere different than I was, but I can't see my character, and the game always crashes within seconds, taking the system with it.

Thunderforge wishes that Ambrosia or Beenox would fix the many bugs that PoG/ Coldstone has. To name a few: you can drop mission items like the evil crown, this bug, modern terms in the dialog ("Great job guys" when it would make more sense to say something like "Excellent job men"), and the bug where you can't save a game in Jaguar.

Double check the version number of PoG. Make sure that you have 1.0.1 and not 1.0 which ships with the CD I believe.

If you aren't running 1.0.1 then you will experience the above problems as the readme states.

I am using version 1.0.1.

Does this happen anywhere, or just in certain locations?

Does this mean that if you have 1.0.2, you will have problems?

No. My mistake, you need 1.0.2 for Spells Expander to work correctly.

Does this happen everywhere or just in certain areas?

From the Spells Expander readme file:

Quote

Spells Expander

-=( Requirements )=-
Pillars of Garendall v1.02 or higher
Trinity plug-in

So in answer to your question/statement, I believe that yes it would be. 🙂

Another problem! I was raising my experience to get the wizard of war spell, and I got four levels without learning a single spell. This happened while I was using World of Chaos.

------------------
I don't know, I'm sure.

I think you do indeed wait a long time before learning anything new at one point...what levels were you at?

EDIT--can you still cast anything? I remember that happened to me, turned out my guy had become a swordsman, good ol' stark helped me out with a plug, though.

2 things may be wrong:

  1. You have passed the level where you learn new spells. Once you learn Earthquake and fiery blast then you are done learning things "naturally." All other spells you must find in order to learn. And, for reference, Conjurers learn spells every 2 levels.

  2. Your player class became goofed up. This can occur if a plug-in developer made a simple mistake when they defined their globals. It is, thankfully, an easy problem to fix. Just grab the (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl/Class_Fixer_Plugin.sit?path=pog/addons&file;=Class_Fixer_Plugin.sit")Class Fixer(/url) plug-in and follow the instructions in the readme file.
