EVN-Quality Graphics Sites

Now that Dreamwave Studios has dropped out, where can one find EVN-quality graphics for use in plug-ins?

P.S. When he ended Dreamwave, Skyblade bloody dropped my graphics off the net too.

As far as I know, there are no sites with lots of nova graphics.
My site has some graphics on it (ooh, now that I have EVNEW, i can easilly pull apart the datafiles that I got from Bryce and post them in a better format), however, the ship sprites are flat based and have no banking turns and some dont have engine flares. A few of them are corrupted too.
Dreamwave was the only site I saw with decent Nova Graphics.

Ewan's Lair, my now dead site had a load of NOVA graphics on it, but sadly it out grew my server space. I am however working on a new site. (url="http://"http://el3.northernswamp.com")el3(/url) will be a site not only for NOVA quality graphics of all types, but a resource centre for the whole development community. Unfortunately the ship you see in the logo wont be available for download as I am already using it in a plug-in, but all the ships that were on Ewan's Lair will be moved over to el3 for the initial release, along with more that will become available over time.

I will be re-uploading my copy of Strata 3D later today. When it is up, I will let you all know

Mazer, I think he'll make it pretty obvious when he puts it up. It'll be a good site, and I'm considering donating some of my ships to the free yard there... no more than two though, for now.

The think is that to make ships for nova takes quite a while, a lot of effort, and people don't want to put in the effort for no return. When you make a ship for a plug, at least people will see it in the intended situation... and it's easier to justify.

But having your ship go into some plug that has a bunch of other random graphics from free sites... nope there isn't much motivation there.

Absolutely. Right now, Azdara and me are communicating via e-mail; I send him concept art and ideas, we discuss, he models and textures. The more information we can exchange, the better the ships look (the models are just gorgeous; I consider myself very fortunate to have acquired the services of someone with ultra-high-caliber modeling and texturing skills). The finished ships do satisfy their purpose, and they will fit very well with the story I have envisioned.

I understand that, and I have made some Nova ships myself. Unfortunately, making the sort of quality ships that can be used with the original scenario is effectively impossible unless you can afford several thousand dollars of graphics programs. Stupid bourgeois.

If you're a student, I understand that Lightwave, the premier graphics program, is available for about US$350-400. To make textures, Photoshop varies in cost depending on where you purchase it, but it's not too expensive for the student edition either. Either way, the amount of practice you'll need to actually make Nova-quality models means that you should expect to make a hobby out of 3D modeling, so you'll be able to justify those expenses...

I don't think it's that terrible. You can ask some of the 3D designers on the board about programs, if you have questions.
