[ANN] EVONE 1.0pb2.5: Drag/drop, Panther, more

Baltimore, MD -- October 27, 2003 -- Arios SoftWare announces the release of EVONE Public Beta 2.5! EVONE, the Escape Velocity Override Nova Editor, is a complete plugin development environment for the Escape Velocity trilogy by Ambrosia Software.

New in This Release
Continuing in EVONE's tradition of providing advanced features when they are first needed and furthering EVONE's position at the forefront of plugin development, this version includes two major new features and countless fixes and improvements. First on the list is the highly anticipated drag-and-drop support which will revolutionize how plugins are made. For the first time in plugin development history, you can precisely organize how your plugin displays in the editor. Imagine grouping your plugin's resources by government, for example, and having instant access to a government's many resource types right in the same folder view. The possibilities are limitless and the choices are all yours - simply drag-and-drop folders and resources just like you would in the Finder to create your own hierarchy.

In yet another breakthrough in plugin editing, EVONE now lets you filter exactly what resources appear in your plugin to speed load times and focus your attention. Using easy-to-configure preferences, you can specify which resource types and the minimum resource ids to load. But your control does not stop there: you can set exactly which games a given type will load under to further filter the display. Resources not loaded will remain in the file, guaranteeing you will not lose any work. Finally, to retain EVONE's remarkable ease of use, the settings come pre-configured to load all resource types related to the EV series - no setup required!

Among the countless small changes and bug fixes included with this version are the extermination of all display bugs both in OS 9 and X and greater appearance manager compliance.

Finally, version 1.0pb2.5 is fully certified for use on Mac OS X 10.3 Panther, paving the way for plugin development on the next generation of the Macintosh platform.

What does it require?
To the dismay of emulator users, and due to its use of new Carbon technologies, EVONE is only supported on Mac OS 9 or later, and Mac OS X 10.1 or later.
