I need help modifying my plugin to set a random for a specific mission to be 100% random from 15%
Any words of advice for what to look for when lurking through the plugin?

I recommend you get EVONE and open up Nova Data 1. Thats where mission data is stored. I am assuming you know the ID number of the mission you are working on. what you should do to keep your Nova Data unmodified is make a new plug. (or make a copy of 'Blank Nova Plug' in the Nova folder.) then copy the mission onto the plug you are making. after coping it, close the window with the Nova Data. Open up the mission and go to the field called Avail. Random. for your mission it should say 15. set it to 100. save. quit. play. enjoy.
BTW: the mission data is called mďsn or misn. ummm....I think thats all you need to do. If not Im sure someone will help you

Thanks alot... I will try that. Uhm... One other thing... it says to copy the Nova tools preferences into the ResEdits preferences... Should I do that or should I just tinker with ResEdit? (Edit) I was wondering also where I get EVONE... Could someone post a link. I am crunched for time and I cannot just hunt right now. Back to mucking around in my 1's and 0's Grr Bianary... Oh well.(/Edit) ------------------ -All your Duct Tape are belong to us

Blah. Just use resedit. Install novatools. They make life much much easier. Copy a blank plugin, or make a new resedit file, and 'get file/folder info' on it from resedit and set the creator and type fields to look like those of another evn plugin file. Open your new blank plugin, and open nova data 1. Find the mission you are interested in in the Misn resources on nova data 1. Copy + paste it into your new plugin. Close nova data 1. Open the mission you copied into your plugin, and change the availability from 15% to 100%. Save. You're done. -Az

Random question. I got EVONE and I played with the plug in and I found what I was looking for. And I changed it. But... I am an inquiering mind so I cheaked the rest of the data... I found something A little odd. Anyone know what Mission bit b9996 is? I think I have to achieve that mission bit before I can actually get the mission... If I red the Edit file right. Supposedly I am supposed to get Dangerous combat rating. I have that. That is not b9996 My deadly char has b9995 and b9997 and b9998 but skips b9996 I am thinking perhaps that is Ultimate... Not sure.. Can anyone tell me what b9996 is... i am going to look at a Bits page somewhere and see what I can find... Ill cheak this in a few min. Hope y'all can help me.

Anyone on this board know what Mission bit b9996 is? I am looking for what is means and I cannot locate it... Or much else for that matter.
There is a guide to all the mission bits (600+) used in Nova on Ambrosia's Add-ons page. Check for it under either guides or tools. I'm lazy so I won't post a link

It's not up-to-date, nor does it tell you what they're used for -- all it does is list them.

... And say where they're used. bxxx set mean that mission xxx is complete/failed/started, for example.

I downloaded EV One, only to find that it gave me ten million errors, so I gave up on it and went back to MissionComputer, ResEdit, ShipWrite, and the graphics apps I've downloaded. I'm far too lazy to trash it. That will come when my dad goes through my stuff because I need another free couple hundred MB (it happened when I upgraded to Jaguar...) to install something and I have ten million old abandoned projects that he asks me about and I just say "nothing of any importance to you, Dad" every time...heh.
God I was a fool. Figured out what it was. And how to get it..> What I was really crunched one was the fact that the mission never showed up and the guy who wrote it put the mission to deadly instead of what he said was dangerous. Oh well. Fixed that and played it. Got bored and trashed it.. I should prolly tell the guy his error though. It was Argolian alliance if anyone wants to know.
Thanks a bundle guys and Later all... Last post for me on this topic.
