How do i open the .rez file format...

i did a search but couldnt find anything. i was wondering if anyone knew how to open the .rez file format in a way that is easy to read. the reason i ask is because i am making a text based RPG, based off of EVN, and i need to get all the ship and weapon stats and what not. if someone could sugest a program, i would be very much in your debt. thankyou.

There is currently no easy way to open the .rez format. I believe that the format itself is being studied by a few industrious people trying to make plug-in editors for Windows, but that wouldn't be too relevant to your needs.

I suggest getting Basilisk II, downloading the Mac version of the data files, and using the Basilisk emulator, ResEdit, and NovaTools to accomplish your purposes. I recall there was also a good text-file guide explaining all the outfits in Nova, but I'm not sure where you get it...

EDIT: 111 posts!

You could do that, or have someone ConText the whole data folder and send the text files to you. Easier reference than using resedit, and overall better if you dont need to edit them. Import the text files into excell, and you have a very well formatted list of all the ships and thier specs.

Well, EVONE, a plugin editor (see my sig) can open the .rez files natively. It would let you go through and open each resource, but it may be somewhat tedious for what you want to do (there is no quick resource summary feature).
