is there an updated version out? or will I have to convert everything myself?
------------------ TROGDOR! burninating the countryside! www.homestarrunner.com
There's a thread talking about converting the magma plug that you might find (very) helpful. It's a few weeks old now, but a seach should pick it up for you..
------------------
With Skyblade's blessing, I did a complete conversion of his fantastic Cold Fusion graphic upgrade plug for the Nova port: ship and weapon sprites, shipyard and outfitter pics, planet and landing graphics, explosions, asteroids, sidebar, buttons, everything. I even threw in a couple bonuses: I added matching gambling graphics and, since I was messing with "shan" resources anyway, put in turret firing points distributed along the spines of the ships as in the original Override. What I did wasn't anywhere close to the work he put into the plug, but there were a fair number of unexpected hurdles to cross, especially for someone who didn't have a ton of experience. I learned a lot.
As he asked me to do, I sent it to him to review, revise, and release. After all, my work was all derivative of his. I heard back from him on Aug 11 -- he'd had computer problems, and was about to start school, but hoped to get Cold Fusion - Nova out ASAP. I haven't heard from him since.
According to the "Where is skyblade?" thread, he may have some other obligations to deal with, too.
It would be ridiculous to fault him for putting real life concerns ahead of a game, and I can't morally release the results of his artistry without his approval.
What can I say? I can only quote God's final message to his creation, as per Douglas Adams:
"We apologize for the inconvenience."

The EVO version of Cold Fusion is at (url="http://"http://dreamwave.evula.net")http://dreamwave.evula.net(/url) . I expect the official EVN version will probably be in the same place once Skyblade releases it. I sent him a private URL address where he could download my contribution, and I think he did.
In the meanwhile, you can pretty quickly convert much of CF to Nova for your own PERSONAL use. Almost all the resource ID numbers in the port of Override to Nova are the same as in original Override, which makes much of the work of translating CF very easy -- just use ResEdit to copy graphics from the Override CF plug and paste them into an empty Nova plug. This should work (if I remember right) for outfits, planets, landscapes, shipyard graphics, targets, and cicns. You don't need the "nose shot" comm graphics in Nova.
Ship sprites have to be run through EnRLE, and you may need to adjust the shans because the ships are not all the same sizes they were in Override. Getting the sidebar and buttons to look like they do in Cold Fusion is trickier....
If you go to the bother, moving CF to Nova does give you a spectacular full-color Override experience!
Just don't post your results, unless Skyblade says you can! It would make you look like a pirate, and make me look like a fool for providing tips. Skyblade's a really good artist, and is entitled to control distribution of his work.
"I've come back to you; at the turn of the tide".
Err yeah, something like that.
Anyway, real life has sucked lately, plus Bellsouth decided to somehow delete our internet service for three+ weeks because of some stupid noob at the controls who didn't know what he was doing. I'm around, but extremely busy; 25 hours a day, 8 days a week.
Trowel, I don't mind if you make your own CFN release ASAP - get it on the net for folks to use at your convenience. I just don't know how much longer it will be before I have a more official release available (to accompany a Dreamwave update).
-edit- P.S: Please note that my joseph.payne@tmgmedia.net e-mail address is no longer in use. If you need to get in touch with me, try dreamwave@evula.net or (preferably) AIM / YIM (captainskyblade).
P.S.S: Car insurance sucks. Why do reckless teen drivers have to make my bills so miserable? Why? Why!?

You got it!!!
Um... or you will get it, real soon now..... I'll try to get it posted to the E.S.W.P. tonight, but it may be tomorrow....
Real life has heated up for me, too. After more years in grad school than even I can believe, I've finally got a Ph.D., which entitles me to.... write grant applications and compete for academic jobs. The first feels like a cross between begging and writing a long high school essay, while the second feels like a cross between begging and a high school speech competition.
Anyway -- Thanks, Skyblade! CF for Nova SOON!

Aye, I see the file is available at your page now - way cool. Thanks for getting that taken care of and subtracting a considerable load off my schedule... at your expense.
Kudos, Professor.
