Update: Windows .rez plugin format info

I have it on good word that some official documentation as to the .rez plugin format will hopefully be made available by the end of next week.
It turns out that the .rez format is a slightly modified version of a .rez file format created and owned by Contraband that they licensed out to Ambrosia. Currently, there is no put-together documentation as to the plugin format. The only "documentation" of any kind as to how the format works is in the sourcecode, which they understandably are not going to release to the public.
It is going to take a little time for the folks at Contraband to put together the documentation you have all been looking for since, as I said, its all still only in the source files.

So, hang on a little while longer. The info is coming.

Good to hear. Perhaps I'll be able to put .rez support in MissionComputer (Mac and Windows) after all.

This course of action makes sense from a time/money point of view. Ambrosia/Contraband could either make the Mac version read .rez data files, or publish teh .rez file struct and let others make a .rez<->rsrc converter form the mac.

The first option ties up at least one programmer that could be working on other projects on the clock for Ambrosia or Contraband. the second costs the companies nothing and results in a value-add for their products.

It's a fair course of action.

Yup , EVONE will be able to natively open .rez files and you can work on them and save them as a Mac plugin, but we are ALSO working on a way to write to .rez files directly, so you can distribute your plugs for windows with ease.

I'm not sure about the writing but I can assure you that reading .rez files natively will be in EVONE 2.0.2 which is coming soon.

Stay tuned.

Sounds good, I want to do some developing for EV Nova, but I want to do it on my windows machine and then have to option for some of my Mac using friends to be able to be beta testers, so a converter from the Win to Mac for plugins would be great, but the info on the rez files will be even better 🙂
