EVN shipyard?

EV clasic and EVO both had sites full of ships people have made for people to download and use in plugins, but where are the EVN shipyards? i have tried making my own ships and i just don't have the patience to do it. could someone tell me where one is, if any exist yet? thanks

------------------

Well the shipyards are basically the same. Is your problem the fact that most of the old ones are "top down?" I know onyx's website has a few good ones... the adress is a couple topics down, i'll go get it. There's others too.

Okay, here it is: (url="http://"http://www.pacifier.com/~kkey/shipyard/index.html")http://www.pacifier....yard/index.html(/url)

Enjoy. And also, the search feature is a good idea too, you'll find a thousand answers to this question.

sadly i just finished downloading all those ships and realized they were originally for ENO. i know i can make them work in EVN, but...they are still kind of small and i wanted bigger ships :frown:

Heh.

Ship in EVN, are a little harder to make, do to all the new things ship can do in EVN. (engine flames, and stuff like that)

More EVN shipyards will come it just takes time.

"Borb II of V.S.S Hellfire."

yes, i know that. i just never finished any plugins before and with EVN, i want to finish at least 1, so with all my free time, i work on my plugin. i can't really do much for ship modeling, but i made new a planet and station graphixs (with new landing pics) for my new government. i just wanted new ships soon. i'll wait though. i am working with converted EVO ships that someone made...

my government is going to have dragon like looking ships. only ships i have seen that i can use right now are the ones i'm using (converted from an EVO plugin)...they don't look right when flying with any of the EVN ships :frown:

i'll wait though. i'm a big fan of the EV games, so i'll keep my fingers crossed on someone making a big shipyard for EVN 🙂

Sorry, but beggars can't be choosers. One of these days, I might put up some of my sprites, but don't get your hopes too high. If you want them sooner, email me, and I'll see what I can do.

See, I'm not sure there ever will be any really good EVN shipyards. With EVO, you could make the model, render the spin/shipyard/comm and throw it up there. But now, with EVN's expanded features (folding, unfolding, running lights, etc..) it's all but impossible to implement these if the original creator didn't. The only solution to this would be including the 3d model file with the ships, which I doubt many would do.

This is why most, if not all EVN ship graphics must be done in-house. Coincidentally, this may also be the single greatest stumbling block preventing more EVN TCs from being made. Except for a few individuals (Pipeline, Onyx, Weepul, Zombat, Dave of Moden/Meowx, etc..) who have the talent to make graphics near or at that level, most people will be dependant on others to provide the ship sprites.

p.s- I should also note there are some artists like sparky and skyfox who have shown some awesome potential, as well..

And don't you listen to these nitwits. Nova's a great game and don't let anyone tell ya otherwise. Better or worse than EVO? Who gives an african monkey's nads?

the main graphic difference between EVO and EVN is that in EVO, you could have some pretty good graphics, but still remaining simple... you just have to make a sprite, mask and the other images.
Now in EVN you have to do all that plus a banking left sprite, a banking right, flares, lights, etc tc etc..... still, EVN is still to new to have lots of TC's out there.... evo didnt have that much TC's either in the beggining....

artists and coders still need to get familiar with the game engine

Or of course you can see if someone will work on a development team with you... I think this is the best way to do it... But learning yourself is a damn good way too. You won't get great results straight away, but the satisfaction you get from making your own graphics is pretty damn good... I recomend it.

One thing that I should make clear is that EV Nova's requirements for a ship are exactly the same as the previous games. It supports many more features such as the ones you mention, but they are completely optional.

Yeah exactly... You don't have to have them. This is a good thing, considering how stupid it would look if a fed carrier banked when it turned. They just make things look a hell of a lot better and more professional.

I don't think they're that hard to do anyway. I suppose the problem here is that someone has already done the pics, but without the addon graphic effects... oh well, if it's for free how can you complain?

Yeah, but there is only so much one can really do with the engine, so in order for scenarios to remain fresh the graphical additions should be used.. but again, as I said, they are, and will remain the main stumbling blocks to any EVN TCs being completed. I learned this the hard way.

thank you! thank you! thank you! 😄
more ships to my plugin. maybe i will start making it into a TC, but...would need more ships of course. i can make planets and landing pics no problem

edit: Captain Skyblade, i'm unsure if you know this or not, but the freighters engine sprites look a bit...grey to me and not black (around the flames, not the flames themselves). i'm making them into being able to use in my plugin right now, and i just thought i would point that out...hope they work on though. they should, i think

edit again: Captain Skyblade, dont worry about the freighter graphics. i put it together and they look great. just how i knew they would and i'm sure you did too 😛

I might someday start a shipyard... Whenever I either give up on my TC or finish it...

might as well make a shipyard. people enjoy making plugins with ships that they set up the stats for and have unique graphics (at least i know i do). only way for most people to get ships, is for people to make shipyards or TC/plugins that add new ships and they rip the plugins apart. with a shipyard, its easier for them, but also you can make notes at each ship saying who made it, so hopefully, that person gets credit.

Bah, screw my gamma settings... This isn't the first time I've had trouble with masks. I think I forgot to change the mask shade format to 2 bit instead of grayscale. I'll update that download file today with a fix.

Oh, and I never release graphics unless I know they work first. 😛 I guess I just failed to realize how dark the engine glows were.

I'm glad you could find some use for those ships. That's always just a little more inspiration to work on more.
