Not sure if this should go here or on the EVO board. Anyways. I was looking through the Addons pages today, and I noticed a complete lack of any plugs advancing the Strand storylines (except for "secret-of-the-Council" type stuff). Why is this? There are plenty of plugs for the NPD missions, the Voinian and UE strings, even smaller strings like the Huron Independence one. Yet none for the Strands. Clearly, this ought to be rectified. How to go about this? Obviously, MissionComputer is the answer. With that little jewel, even someone as stupid as I am could make a successful mission string. However, victory in the Azdgari string is practically assured. A wing of Enhanced Azdaras could take down God Himself. The Igadzra would need some kind of fighter before taking on the Azzies, though. Let's face it, the Plasma Siphon isn't really the greatest against the green guys. As for the Zidigar, they'd need major shipyard overhauls - a Zidigar Crescent Warship and Arada at the least. Right now their Fighters are snacks for Azdaras and their Pocket Warships are light meals for Igazras. What do you think? What other strings could do with plugs?

Well, I'd have to agree that it is rather odd that EVO has been out so long without such a plug-in, and I'd encourage anyone to go ahead with any project that'd do this. Though I would understand motivation may be difficult to gather these days, especially with EVN overshadowing EV/O a bit.
As for the strings, I'd say that anything that deals with an advancement of the strand storylines (and your considerations assume that some mercenary captains -- one for each strand -- of completed all of the existing strings; a safe assumption in my opinion) needs to do something with the Council. After completion of any of the strand mission strings, this item pops up in the news:
"Much speculation has ensued after the mysterious Council, making its first announcement in centuries, declared it is considering the future of the Strands."
Just putting my thoughts out there.

thanks for the reminder. i knew i was forgetting something. i had abandoned it for awhile after i couldn't get refusebitset to work, and then my powerbook died.
i have a shiny new ibook now, and some work to do.

I have a real problem with that plug called Beyond the Crescent. One mission keep repeating. ACH!
I actually started my own EVO plug back in the day. The only requirement for playing it was having finished one of the Crescent strings, though since it starts on an Azdari world, it would be helpful to have fought for them.
I got a whole mission string worked up regarding Crescent Station and exploring beyond it, and even worked up the better part of the expanded galaxy out there.
Then I got bored, and it died. Perhaps I should revisit it some day.
