Decay

I'm can't seem to get the decay field in the weapon resource to work. Can anybody help me?
Also, the default oufits for ships don't seem to work either.

Wouldn't this belong on the EV Developers Corner? You would probably get more responses there too.

Ok, if you mean by the outfits not working they don't show up in ship info in the shipyard then that is normal. They don't get shown there. IF they don't show up in the extras section of personal information then check that the ships have been given the number of outfits to have. Just putting the ID in isn't enough you have to say how many of them they come with.
As for the decay are you sure you know how it works? It make the shots do less damage after the number of frames specified in the decay field. (ie. if the decay was set to 30, then after every 30 frames the weapon would do one less point of mass and energy damage. Do you see?)

Hope that helps

I've checked everything with the outfits. I've tried many different types of outfits on a couple of different ships and they never show up anywhere.
As for the decay, I gave a heavy rocket a decay of 1 and it still disabled a freighter from over a screenlength away.

Instead of giving it a decay, why don't you just chop its range down and make it explode at end of lifetime (flak). That usually works well.

Suddenly, the little scoutship disappeared and then reappeared right behind the alien warfleet. The gravitic ship's captain hailed the armada. "You are going to be destroyed, but I will give you a choice as to how you want to spend eternity: big pieces, little pieces, or quarks?"
Dead silence.
"Quarks it is, then."

Wow, I finally figured out my problem! Sorry for bringing up an old topic but I thought I should post here just in case anyone made the same mistake I did.
The problem is that a lot of features introduced in version 1.0.2 won't work including decay, default items, dude mission bits, fuel regen, etc. The problem occurs when you decide to save a little time and space by deleting all the seemingly useless "unused" fields from the end of a lot of the templates. Don't do this! I don't know why, but for some reason a lot of the newer features won't work unless all eight of these fields are present in a resource.
