I have a question on how to compress files so that you can submit them onto the add-ons page. I have stuff-it expander I think 7.0 and 7.1. Can some one tell me how to do this?

You need DropStuff. It comes with Stuffit Standard, which you can fin at (url="http://"http://www.aladdinsys.com")Aladdin's website(/url)

You need DropStuff or StuffIt Standard to compress files. Just drag a file on it to compress.

But it costs $ 50. If he rather not paid that, I can give him a link to old version for free.
I believe you can use it for 30 days for free. BTW, 7.0.3 is out, if you all hadn't noticed yet.

But what if he wants to use it for eternity instead of just days? Yes, I noticed. I have been on Aladdins site.
I figured you had noticed, of course... If you want to use it for an unlimited amount of days, I guess you could use the old dropstuff. It may not have as good compression as the newer versions, but I'm sure it works.

Yeah, that was what I was saying. It may not be as good as the new versions, but you dont need to pay half a hundred dollars. I did this myself.
How do I get the old one? Also, after I compress it, how do I encode it?
Hey, I just found ZipIt on the internet, could I just use that to compress stuff, then just submit them, or would it not work or would after compressing them have to do something else them submit?
I'm not sure if ZipIt will preserve the resource forks, as it is a generally windows file format. Go (url="http://"http://www.stuffit.com/cgi-bin/stuffit/n-login_stuffit.cgi?stuffitlite")here(/url) to download demos for DropStuff, DropZip, and DropTar, as well as for Expander.
If that link does not work, go (url="http://"http://www.stuffit.com/stuffit/lite/index.html")here(/url) and click on the big, blue, circular button labeled "Dowload stuffit standard edition and try ALL 4 products!". Fill in some random info, and then click download.

Its such a bother to find a link... I dont remember where I found myself. Ill just send it to you at rolley49@yahoo.com. About encoding, do you mean generally (such as MacBinary)?

I think so. I wen to the addons page and with submitting it said something like that.
An older version may be better than a current one. I have seen several mentions on the webboards of problems with StuffIt 7. I am still using 5, and it seems to work fine.
