Xenophobic govts

Whew I just got problems/questions up the butt lately. No... wait that's not what I meant... Maybe I need to rephrase that. Anywho, Is there any way to make a Xenophobic government not attack you. I've created this govt that has it's own working hails now and you can ferry passengers within it's borders, but they're a horribly reclusive people - and you're supposed to join them. So that's the new problem with my seemingly very tempermental govt. I tried giving the player an IFF scrambler outfit but it didn't do jack. Does activating the Xenophobic flag automatically negate any allegance the player has to the govt? I even gave the pilot a ship with full inherent goverment properties.

Would selecting the 'Never Attacks Player' flag be enough? But I spose you've already tried that.

Why not stop the government from being Xenophobic and just make it hate everybody, or in other words be enemies with everyone that comes in contact with it - so it appears as if it is xenophobic.

To rephrase what thedecline said, what you need to do is set all governments to be members of one particular class -- say 1001, for example -- and DON'T USE THAT CLASS FOR ANYTHING ELSE. Then set Class 1001 in one of your Xenophobic Gov't's enemies fields. Now your evil government is at war with every other government, BUT not necessarily with the player. At least, I think it'll work...

If you want them to be friendly to the player, give the player a ränk from that gövt that makes it not attack the player.

Of course, you could always just do that, which is fairly simple, and ignore that now seemingly horribly complex thing that I told you to do.

Sweet, thanks mrxak. I completely overlooked using a rank. I even already had one made that was to be used later :redface: So that works perfect. I had already tried assigning a few governments to a unique class but it was just a big pain. Using rank works must cleaner.
