EVN bars (similar topic)

I posted (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/003379.html")this topic(/url) back in September. Most of the questions were answered but not all.

When you build a TC, how do you you do Bar related text.

With Resedit and Novatools, I can find the text for the Bars them selves, and I can find the text that says "meet me in the bar in two hours" but not the text related to "you're sitting in the bar when blah walks up to you."

It is usually a turning point in a storyline where you are sent on some mission.

I know others know how to do this, because AnubisTTP has done it in his Polycon TC.

So, rather than asking where the text is the regular game, I thought I could ask how it is done in the first place.

The text you're looking for is the offering text for a mission. It's stored in a dësc resource, and the ID of it is mďsn ID - 128 + 4000. If you're editing your missions in MissionComputer, just click the Edit button next to the offering text field.

Your feeling is correct.

There are those missions you get when you enter a bar. Sort of like the Polaris mission when you first meet Mu'Randa.

Is it the same thing when she, for example, tells you to meet her in the bar "The next morning"?

I can always find the desc file for you being sent to the bar, but never the text/misn that sends you on to your next destination. As in, someone says "I have to talk to the boss about this. Meet me in the bar in 2 hours" Then you click on the Bar button and "No sooner do you sit down for your drink, she comes in 'I've talked to them and we need to get to Star system Alpha. Ready to leave?'"

It sounds like a misn with a desc (because you are not reading the barroom text)
I can't find this other misn or desc.

Generaly, when they tell you to meet them in the bar the next day, it means that you end that mission, and a bit is set to start the next mission as soon as you reach the bar. Hence beginning the trick to find which mission it switched to...

------------------
"...yet gradually we recovered, venturing cautiously back into the void of space afraid of what we might find there."

That text is, in fact, the offer text of a new mission, that is set to (usually) 100% availability and available in the bar on the planet you are already on. The offer text is, as David Arthu said, the ID-128+4000.

It's related enough that I'll add my question here. I've noticed a few places(feature lists mainly) that Nova has optional bar pictures. Where when you go to the bar, it gives you a small pict along with the normal text description. Is this feature actually still there, or was it talked about but never implemented? If it is there, what's the id offset formula, and what size(in pixels) should it be?

I don't know what the pixel size is, but I don't think the graphics are set using an offset formula; rather, you place the ID of a PICT resource in the Graphic field of the bar's associated desc resource.

Cool. That's makes it blindingly simple. I'll just go home and look at all the background picts for the various dialogs, find the bar+pict one, and look at the size of the black rectangle for the pict.
