Whenever I try to make a new mission, a notice comes up saying, "An exception of clan NilObjectException was not handled. The application must now shut down."
What's the deal?

I don't have this problem with MC2... maybe dumping the prefrences file might fix it.

It might help DA to post exactly what system you are running. I have seen some REALBasic apps die with that error on some systems while working perfectly on others.

Mac OS X or Mac OS 9? If Mac OS 9, is it 68K or PowerPC, and have you tried increasing the memory allocation? Does this happen on all files, or only some? Does it only affect missions, or does this happen for other resources as well? Does this only effect EV Nova plug-ins, only effect Escape Velocity and EV Override plug-ins, or affect both?

Ok--I'm running OS9.2.2. This has only happened on the misn resource for EV:Nova plugs. This has happened about 5 times now, but today the error didn't come forth.
Any ideas?
I had the same problem. It happens if you do not tell MC where the data files are and attempt to open a misn resource. It only seemed to affect the misn resource, and stops once the data files are shown to MC.

All right, will check. I have a feeling I know where it is.
I checked, and found I'd already fixed this for MissionComputer 2.1.
lol then are you sure when you will release 2.1?

When it's done.
Which will be soon.
It could be... now. Or now. Or even now. (Actually, I need to get the testers a final candidate first, but you get the idea.)
MissionComputer 2.1. Coming soon to a developer community near you.
Glad to see that it is fixed.
I cannot wait for 2.1. Of course, I will likely not benefit from cartographer since I managed to force myself to place them the hard way (all nearly 200 of them!). But the graphical insystem editor will be of great use. If it doesnt take too much time away from finishing 2.1, could you let us in on the editors being added, just to add to the puddles of drool that currently form as we anxiously await its release?
As a beta tester of both, I can say with confidence that it looks like Mission Computer 2.1 will be released without Cartographer, which isn't quite ready yet. And in his defense, David did say early on that he did not expect to release them simultaneously.
However, you'll still have the benefit of template editing, so you'll still be able to edit s˙sts and spöbs from Mission Computer -- just not graphically.

As Uncle Twitchy said, MissionComputer 2.1 will be released separately from - and sooner than - Cartographer. The main new features in this particular version are the template-based editor and the graphical chär editor; for more, see my (url="http://"http://www.ev-nova.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1150")MissionComputer 2.1 Preview(/url).
I cant wait for either one DA.
As for your answer above I guess its the best answer any developer can give. Isnt it?
