Ok, anyone on the boards reguarly will probably have noticed that a little while ago I posted a recruitment thread for a TC just a quick review...: I am making a TC for Nova etc... ok, lets get this post moving. What I need quite badly are graphic artists, in specific someone who can do ships (shipyard, spin/shan, et. al.) and someone who can do spob (preferably with landing pics too) and nebula pictures. If you are interested please contact me via email (Starbridge42@hotmail.com) or through this post. Please if you are just going to say 'sorry I am too busy to help' or words to that effect then please don't post messages, I don't like sorting out the rubbish from the good stuff and would perfer it if people just trying to boost number of posts didn't reply unless they have something constructive and worthwhile to say.

I'm sorry to do this since I respect your request for only relevant replies, however, please don't post the same topic more than once - especially so close together. You made this request just a few days ago. Unless you view posts from only the last day then your last topic still shows up on the front page. This topic is simply unnecessary and only bumps other people and your other post down. If after a couple weeks you're getting no replies, then I'd say maybe try again at that point.
------------------ I used to jog but the ice kept falling out of my glass.
Also, to add to Kame's post, have you ever made any plug-ins before? If not I would first work on a few small plug-ins first to get yourself established as a serious plug-in maker. Maybe try with a few mission expansions for NOVA, maybe a small expansion pack that adds a couple of ships and a few outfits. If you need some ships for an expansion set, please see the link in my sig Get them released, otherwise no-one will take you seriously as a developer - hence the distinct lack of interest in team formation.
Topics about TC Development teams are pound a penny about here - most of them started by newbies and barely a few of them ever get anywhere. I know from experience that there is nothing more annoying than making graphics for a plug-in that never sees the light of day. I have made near on 40 ships for people (probably more) and none of them have ever seen release :frown: Some of them were absolute rubbish so Im glad they never got out now but I still regret making them for nothing...
Let people see that you are serious about plug making and they will be more than happy to do work for you, otherwise no-one but beginners will want to devote their time to make loads of ships for you...
Good luck and have a nice day ewan

/bad memories of Corsair Developers.
The team died so quickly, mostly because of general confusion and the extremely difficult task of getting everyone to agree on something... it just doesn't work.

Its a shame really because with the people on the team, the quality of DW would have been amaziing! We had some **** hot writters, coders, and of course we were on graphics
Those were the days... good times
Sorry Starbridge - I wont hijack your topic any more, but while Im here I will add that you shoud be careful when it comes to running a team. If comunication is slack or descriptions of exactly what needs done is lacking then the plug will fall apart quicker than a Lada Brittish joke there you probably wont get it
Good luck ewan
(This message has been edited by Jules (edited 02-10-2003).)
My advice is to work on your plug using the standard sprites from Nova or even some non-Nova quality free shipyard sprites until you have a good deal of progress. If you come back in a month or so and say you have the galaxy done, the ships and outfits designed, and have the missions in the process of coding, people will realize that this is a project that may actual get finished. That will make them more willing to help you out. Also, you should probably post some info besides just a request for graphics. If they really like your idea they may be more willing to help as well.

Good days indeed... Dreden War was going to be sweet (and it still is - I've never dropped the story. Perhaps it will be wondering around the Nova plugins page one of these days).
David Burgis was an excellent coder (diddlysquat - remember him?). I'd like to track him down if I ever need some serious ResEditing done that's beyond my head for EV / EVO.

Yeah hes still about sometimes I think. I was helping him with his Strata work a while ago... If you ever thought about reopening the project under new development I would be happy to refresh my Kelan designs and do a few more.

You were helping diddly out with Strata? Huh... I haven't seen him around in over a year or so.
Heh, you were brand new to Strata when you first introduced the Kelan shuttle and interceptor. You've come a long way since.
Dreden War's story will live on, even if it never gets to the plugin stage.

Righty Oh, I understand you're point it's just no-one seemed to notice it, in 9 days it got 6 replies, and some of that was people talking to each other. It won't happen again hopefully.

Ok Jules, firstly yes I have designed numerous plugins. Many were tests for my own benefit to get used to the resources, and so were obviously not released as they were just to get used to things, the others? Beta testers never got back to me (last time I ever trust Richard, Ian and Anthony with my plugins!) or I had downloaded that awful blank plugin thing from the Nova addons page. Bloody thing didn't work one Iota, just wasted several weeks of hard work ALONE I might add because they were still 'learning plugs.' The small few that didn't suffer one of these short commings are on my cousin Billy's web page. Can't remember the adress right now or I would put it up. As the addons page crashed whenever I tried to post them. Whether I have a connection problem or something remains open to debate.

Sorry to break up your CWA meeting but I ask you to please read in the first post where I asked very politely for no unnescecary chit chat please! So far I have let Kame and Jules slide because while their posts where scathing they had some meaningful things, especially Kame's one (his wasn't that bad really). ( I am suprised he isn't a moderator with the sort of posts he well, posts. And I don't mean that in a bad way, I mean they're diplomatic) but Kyle don't do it again, use some other message string like, oh I don't know 'Come and chat' or something like that.

To the first bit, get it onto another topic please. Thank you for staying on topic for the second bit, I am fully aware of the responsiblity and I have regular talks with anyone who is signed onto the team. Oh and yes I did get the joke, but I think you mean Laga not Lada.

Well I actually already am using the standard pics till I get the graphics artists together. I have an outfits man (Thanks Borb!) I also am using some of the cold blood ships while waiting as they are almost Nova quality. The ships and outfits are designed and made into resedit as are govts, weapons, chars, cirn and dudes. The missions are being started as we speak and I am doing the systems/spobs as well. This is a plug that has a 99.999999999% chance to be finished providing the rest ofthe people don't drop out, die or marry a b**ch queen who won't let them use the computer be finished, it has had 2 months of background info and even research into some things about space and ships, and energy sources and stuff like that before anyone was contacted about helping me to make the plugin. I am not sure what you mean by 'some info' please be specific, what do you want to know my hair colour? It could mean anything. Please don't be so general i you want information about something.

'Please don't chit chat. PLEASE! right now that's cleared up

Uh, I made that comment for your sake, Star... I used to run a development team back in 2000 - 2001, and I simply was making it clear to you that they are very difficult to manage, especially when you've got folks who don't recognized the chain of authority. But if my advise is really that pathetic to you, ignore at your convenience. I do apologize for a the posts swapped between ewan and I, but I hope you can learn a good deal about the difficulties and downsides of a plugin team. It's rough and tough.
I'd also like to ask why you posted every single freakin' post ewan and I made and said practically the same thing about each one - I guess I could call it spam if I preferred. I can tell you're fairly new to the boards, but what the heck. I'm glad to see someone trying to get an EV-related development team together, regardless of how hard it is. Good luck.

Fair enough... I still recommend releasing some expansions before you embark on a project of this size. The expansion doesnt have to be small - you can make it add a whole new government with its own string. Ths would be far easier than a TC and less immenant to failure. I dont even see why Im saying this again. You may be confident that you can do it but statistically speaking roughly 100% of Newbies that say "Im making a TC for NOVA. Please make me graphics!" never make it past much more than pre-dev.
I dont think you quite realise how big an undertaking it will be. I have had a LOT of experience in plug development. I had been making about 2 TCs for Override and due to the undertaking that involved I gave up... it was just too much work. NOVA's engine is so much more complex than the classic engine I wouldnt even concider trying to make an expansion.
**So far I have let Kame and Jules slide because while their posts where scathing they had some meaningful things, especially Kame's one (his wasn't that bad really). **
My post wasnt scathing I was simply stating what usually happens and warning you. Infact if you read my first post again then you will see than I was actually trying to give you some advice, and explain why graphic artists are highly unlikey to work for someone who has no reputatiion for making plug-ins! ie If you make and release some decent expansion sets then people will be more likely to work for you!!! Get it?
**Oh and yes I did get the joke, but I think you mean Laga not Lada. **
No I meant La D a. Lada were a particularly ****ty make of Russian cars that used to be sold in Brittain. They had a terrible reputation for breaking down, not to mension looking and handelling like a wardrobe on wheels.
**And stop just chatting e there is a web board for that. **
No there isnt.
Starbridge42 to Jager: **Are you offering to help? **
If you read his post again then you will see that what he is saying was directed to me as I am making graphics for his TC as I have known him (abeit in a text sense) for ages (must be at least a year), and as such know him to be reliable. I also know the other people in the team and know that these people are exeptionally gifted in their area of development. As such I see this plug being released.
**Now just so you lot can see, I have posted all this as one message instead of as several so don't think for a second I am doing this to raise posts. **
What???
Now, I appologise for both being rather short to you in this post and for chatting with Capt'n Kyle. Read what everyone was actually saying about the prospects of development. Its a lot more challenging than you seem to think.

Ok, but hey I like a challenge and the only time I can't use the computer is when brother is doing the assignment or I'm at school (grade 8 Rockhampton Grammar) so I have plenty of time.

Yes, but things here are a hell of a lot different to my old Exile Building days. Well the engine was a lot simplier but it was deffinately easier to find someone to make graphics for you.

Maybe yes and maybe know. You all seem to think I am making this without any real dedication. Well if so then your wrong if you read my message 2 posts before this you will see just how long I spent preparing everything before I contacted anyone. I was already into the programing of the ships and outfits and weapons into Resedit. Oh yes I have let myself be sucked int othis trap, could we please get back on the topic. Im not doubting your dedication, I just dont think you realise just how big an undertaking this will be... Actually, I'll do you a deal - get 60% of the missions done, all the governments, all the ships, all the weapons, and the plug beta ready and I will do atleast 1 governments graphics for you. How does that sound? Email me at (url="http://"mailto:ewanc@mac.com")mailto:ewanc@mac.com(/url)ewanc@mac.com
I was saying that a teaser of the storyline might grab an artists interest, and they might then be willing to work with you because they like the idea or think that making graphics with that sort of spin would be an interesting exercise for them.
