Just a small note, is the limit of spobs in any system still only four, or are you only aloud to have four planets or stations and more wormholes and hypergates. I am quite confused as the bible does not say anything about this (well I can't find it anyway).

The information you require is near the beginning of the EVN Bible (Game Constants). For quick refference, s˙sts in Nova can support up to 16 spöbs.

But, if I remember correctly, only 4 of them can be set as Nav Points. This means that AI ships will only pay attention to a max of four. Wormholes and hypergates do not need to be set as Nav Points for the AI to use them, iirc, and in fact should not be set as such or ships will just go hang out near them.
Non-Nav Point spobs are usueful for setting up a gas giant that the comp ignores around which there are moons and/or stations that you want the comp to pay attention to.

Except that's not actually true in regards to the A.I. -- I have a s˙st with eight spöbs (Sol) and the A.I. ships visit six of the seven inhabitable ones.

Six out of seven? That's a little odd... You'd think it would be all or nothing...

Let me get this straight:
You can have four planets/stations which the A.I will recognise and land on, and plus you can have up to 12 more spobs that the A.I won't land on like gas giants and hypergates and wormholes.
So The first four nav defaults in the Syst resource will be recognised by the A.I as landing points, and any after that will simply be ignored unless they are hypergates or wormholes.
or is that not it?
In my TC, I have one system which has 8 spöbs. Of those eight, #3 is uninhabitable. The A.I. ships will go to spöbs 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8.
So, I'd say, no, that's not how it works.
In my experience, the only real significance of the first 4 nav destinations is that they are hotkeyed, and useable as starting locations for special ships in missions.

If 3 is uninhabitable, what happened to 6? Why do they ignore 6?

thats not it. The Ai does crazy stuff. AI generally recognise the inhabitated spobs, and wormholes etc. aren't inhabitated.

That's just it -- I don't know.
I think the whole area is a bit hazy so I'll just stick to trial and error and see what goes on. It would be cool but if you could have the solar system with all nine planets plus a couple of moons would't it?
Thanks for your help but.
