EnRLE Question

I have a ship sprite that is a 12-frame 6x2 animation which then cycles 12 times (making the Sprite PICT 6x24 frames). I have my shän set up to 12 FramesPerSet and my BaseSetCount at 1 so that it cycles properly, with the Extra Frames In Sequence flag set. However, when I run it through EnRLE, it takes gives me an image that's essentially twelve frames squashed into one frame. What am I doing wrong?

You need to make sure it understands what size each frame is. At least, that's what I think might be the issue.

I thought so, too, but that info is correctly set -- it's just squashing all 12 frames into one frame horizontally...maybe I need to reverse the FramesPerSet and BaseSetCount...

(edit) Nope. That didn't work, either. (/edit)

you need a spďn resource in your file, as well as the PICT resources. Shäns are not needed.

To convert a PICT animation to RleD/8, you need a spin resource. The shan comes later, when you want to edit things like weapon exit points, engine glow resource IDs, etc.
The shan resource is a sort of advanced spin resource built for EVN. EnRLE doesn't need to use anything from the shan resource, and just uses the information from spin resources. All animations require spin and RleD/8 resources. Ships require spin, shan, and RleD/8 resources.

shan stands for ship animation, and spin stands for sprite info.

(EDIT) Ah-HA! Got it!

I needed to set both the FramesPerSet and BaseSetCount to 12 -- otherwise, it thought the extra frames were all one frame.

And as long as EnRLE is set to look for a PICT in a shän, it can use a shän instead of a spďn resource (which was the behavior I'd been seeing before).
