Okay, here's the scoop, the EVONE icon may be changed to be the same as the DEV corner Web Badge. That is the cube you see there (the top left of this screen) will be used as the EVONE icon. A little enhanced but overall the exact same thing.
There is concern that the EV community might be a little miffed about the EVONE icon being the same as the web badge. This question is aimed mainly at Andrew and Mantaray. Andrew becuase he Andrew Welch / el Presidente / Ambrosia Software, Inc. and Mantaray becuase he designed the badge. However everyone has a say.
My opinion is that the cube being here and on the EVONE app enhances the fact that the app is used to develop icon for EV/EVO/EVN. But that's just me.

I would be somewhat concerned - associating EVONE with the official web board would give it an aura of officialness that it does not deserve, being a third-party product.
However, if I remember correctly it was you that designed the cube - it is hence your intellectual property and it is entirely up to you what you do with it. Mantaray used it, but he didn't gain exclusive rights to it.

I agree with Mazca. It would give EVONE the appearance of an officialness it does not have. However, if it uses the same sort of idea (a cube), but looks significantly different, I would not object.
If you think about it, the previous web badge had several 3rd-party icons on it, such as ResEdit and Codewarrior IDE. There was a mix though, and did not give any special significance to any particular one. Since there is only one icon of the web badge, it creates that significance. To use it as the EVONE icon would create a conflict.
It is yours, so you could use it if you want, but I'd strongly urge you to reconsider. Like I said before, a significantly different cube would not be a problem with me, but to use the same one (a little enhanced or not) would be.

The difference there, though, is that ResEdit was the Ambrosia-suggested way to develop plugins.

I agree. It probably shouldn't have that web badge. I think EVONE should have it's own icon, even if it's not as well made.

See, that's a VERY good icon for it. It just screams 'editor program that didn't have to steal all it's graphics'.
Which is quite a lot for such a little icon to scream.
All comments considered, I think I agree with you, grrrr, I hate it when I disagree with myself. LOL.
All the same, I think I will continue to use the icon as my Plug In Developers Folder Icon. It works well. As it won't be part of the EVONE icon I do recommend one thing about the current EVONE Icon that needs to be changed, it bugged me about the NOVA Icon to. NO FREAKIN' DROP SHADOW!!!
LOL, becuase the icon is so cool, I would like to realease it, along with a few more sutible icons into the Plug-In's downloading section. Would anybody argue with that?

Perhaps I composed myself wrong. I reccomend that both the EVN Icon and the EVONE Icon get a drop shadow. It would improve them greatly.

It wouldn't have, I made the graphic so it isn't stealing, I hadn't thought about the repercussions of using the graphic as an icon for a released app. Now that I consider them, I agree that it is best not used.

The icon's bevel is to negate the need of a drop shadow. Drop shadows are overused and many do not like them.

Fools, they are meant to give depth to the icon, I for one belive it helps the interface greatly if all icons incorporate a drop shadow, the EV NOVA Icon looks out of place without one.

I like the icon posted here. It looks sweet, and gives the program a more professional feel because it doesn't make it look like it 'stole its icons.'
