Naming ships

Is it possible to name a ship that you haven't bought?

Here's the deal: the character acquires a ship in a misn via Hxxx. So after the accept misn dialogue I'd like that little prompt to appear that let's name your new ship. Simple enough right.

There's an NCB expression that allows you to set the new ship's name to something randomly selected from an STR# resource (actually, I think that even resulted from one of my ideas), but you can't bring up the actual ship name dialog and let the user name the ship.

Use the STR# method, and just stick in a bunch of cool names that anyone would want, like:
S.S. Bladefist
S.S. Bloodied Cutlass
S.S. Deathwing
S.S. Death By Numbers
S.S. The Matrix
S.S. Nova
S.S. Ship
S.S. <Name of Ship Class>
S.S. Freighter 97
S.S. Pretty Yellow Flower
S.S. Whatever II
S.S. Supership 5000™
S.S. <Your Name Here>
S.S. Itsy Bitsy

Yeah, I know about the String names. I wanted to leave that up to the user though - as it should be. Well, thanks once again for the info.

I seem to recall that any instances of an asterisk(*) would be replaced with the current ship name. So, if you made the new name come from a resource with only one entry of just the asterisk, you could at least let the player use the ship name they'd already chosen. Not what you wanted but better than nothing(at least I think so).
