I know about jack regarding ResEdit, but I'm interested in toying with plugs... I can't figure out about what kind of editor would be good to get. I've seen NovaTools mentioned several times (when I ran a search), but all I found was dead links to it. I'm in OS X and would prefer something native, uh... Other than that, I'm not picky, really... Also if anyone knows any kind of... resource that would help me learn asside from the the Bible that would be nice, though I caouls always just hack through it as I go. Thanks in advance.

There is nothing native to OSX that can edit/make plugs (at least not for free). NovaTools can be found on the addons page, under utilities. The links are broken because the company that made NovaTools didn't want to pay for .mac, IIRC :frown:.

(url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net/mc.php")Mission Computer 2.0(/url) will be able to edit certain Nova aspects in OSX, but that's a ways away. There's also (url="http://"http://www.ariossoftware.com/upcoming/")EVONE(/url), which is in beta stage 5.

What's not Native, then? I'll have to go looking for ResEdit, I guess, but I'm not entirely opposed to something Classic. EVONE looks like it'll be cool.

You can get ResEdit from (url="http://"http://www.resexcellence.com")ResExcellence(/url). It appears to work fine in the emulated Classic Environment. As for learning, read the Bible, and actually take a look at some of the released plugs. Maybe toy around with them.
Speaking of which, does anyone have a template for the RlëD's that they could email me?

You would have a rather hard time reading an rleD template, as it is mostly just one large hex dump... You really need NovaTools to view it.
I have Nova Tools and it still appears as a large hex dump.
Some folks have NovaTools? Is there a possibility I could get my hands on it by, ah... some other means since the company who made it is no longer hosted? I mean... I'd not want to circumvent the mekers, but if it's free ware (which I'm under the impression it is), then it prolly has some deal where you can distribute it as long as you include the ReadMe and all the other stuff.

Look for it in the utilities section.

Ah. Yes. Right. I was confused, it seems... I thought-- Pheh. Never mind. The explination isn't worth the bytes. Needless to say: Thanks.
