I have been talking to Tim, the creator of the famed Empire series for the original EV. He has given me permission to port the Empire plugins to EVN. He can't do it himself because his computer is too old to run Nova. However, I don't have a graphics program to convert the ships to Nova quality. If someone would be willing to help me with this, please reply to this topic or e-mail me at AGS848@AOL.com and I will send your more details. Thanks.

I don't have the time to do the graphics, but I do know how you can cut down on the workload of porting plugins. Port Authority will be released "soon" and will enable you to port EV plugs and data to EVN. But that's just the first step, so...

Yes, I plan to use Port Authority to make my life easier. But it won't port the graphics, will it?
To the best of my knowledge its does port graphics !
But then again I'm only human(daunting fact :D) and I could be terribly wrong.

What I ment was, does it make the graphics into Nova quality. I'm sure this is imposible since the graphics are in 256 colors to start with.

Sorry misunderstood your question, (like I said I'm human) Yes all it does is port the graphics into nova format.

You're talking about BlitZen, which changes the bit depth of image quality. That should aid you.
A suitable question might be: Are the ship models available for rerendering (and for that magical 45 degree angle stuff)?
(Personally not able to help, but definitely clamoring for the outcome.)

Pardon my ignorance on this but, are the ships in Nova actually rendered from 3d models instead of 2d sprites like in the first two games? If that is the case, then there is most likely 3d models of these ships to go on.

I think you're a bit confused. The ships in all three games are made as 3D models. They were then rendered to sprites (which are 2D) and are used in the game.
If the 3D models are available for someone to re-render at a higher quality (and could then have running lights, engine glows, banking sprites, and weapon animations), it would look a lot better.

I have talked to Tim and have gotten a list of all the creators of the ship graphics. I will try to track down the 3d models. But, in the meantime, I still need someone to do the conversion...
Please, folks, don't make me beg!
This is a project I would really like to do! Isn't there someone who is at least interested?

I think it just seems a lot of effort.
