Hi, I'm making a TC wich completly chanches nova. So I tought it would be best to replace the nova data files. Can you give me some tips on how to divde my "plugs"? And datafiles are just "plugs" with other creator code or something like that, right? And how do I make nova "reconise" my data files?
Thanks ,

You can't replace the datafiles. Instead, just overwrite all the resources with blank resources in the plugin file.
------------------ "I've just had an apostrophe!" "I think you mean an epiphany." "Lightning has just struck my brain!" "Well, that must hurt!"
Your data files have to be named the same as the originals and the locations of the different resources have to be the same as well.
Plugs just append to what ever is in the data files.
Hope this helps :).
BTW, anyone know how long it takes for you to get a responce from lostcodes@ambrosiasw.com? I sent in a request two days ago...maybe I'm just being impatient, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

That depends on how backlogged they are.

I hope they're not too backlogged. I just got reinterested in developing my TC that I have already dropped twice, most recently at the beginning of the summer. I'm afraid if it takes too long I'll lose interest again...I think I have a short attention span, maybe ADD, or it could be...mmmm tacos.

Here is another option: just edit the data files directly MAKE A BACKUP FIRST

How about this:
Put all your plug-ins into a new folder called "Nova Files"
Name the read-me "Never read this ever. Really." and place it in the folder with your plugs.
Say in your read-me something like, "To install (insert name of TC here), simply drag the Nova Files folder out of the EV Nova Folder, and place the one this plug comes with in it's place."
What this does is makes Nova read your plug-ins streight from the Nova Files folder, and it won't load the Nova scenario. Get it? Becuase as I recall, Matt Burch said it doesn't matter what the names of the files are, Nova reads everything in the Nova Files folder.

Nova reads everything in the Nova Files directory. It reads Npif (with umlauts) and Ndat (with umlauts) and whatever the other types of files are. The only exception to the any name rule would be if you are replacing the intro music, in which case it has to be called Nova Music. Also, you only need to replace a few of the Nova resources with blanks. For example, if a shuttle happens to exist in Nova files, and you don't overwrite it, nothing will happen so long as you don't reference it from anywhere. Therefore, you only need to fill in missions, persons, crons, and I don't remember what else.
