Every time I've used Res-Edit, it's screwed up. Even changing something so small as a ship's shields, it's screwed up. On the other hand, where EV-Edit works, it really does work. I know you say that EV-Edit can randomly change numbers, EVula, but the places where it screws up are easy to avoid.
Taylor; stay away from missions, there's a flag there that will not deselect which messes up any missions you want to make. Also stay away from systems for the most part - it works mostly, other than VisBits, but it can cause EV-Edit to crash occassionally. I've never found any problems with any other areas, though.
I'd strongly advise finding MissionComputer.

I wouldn't say I don't want to learn it. Its that i don't have the time and I don't feel like reading a 100 page book full of jargon which I don't feel like trying to understand. I was hoping for something Easy not "go read a few minutes of resedit doc" isn't there anything else i can use?

I found something for EV:C in the addons that is only a galactic map editor. It's called EV Developer's Map and you can find it in the Utilities section of the EV addons page. Even though it's not made for EVO, you could use it to make the map look how you wanted, then use resedit and copy the x-y coordinates into an EVO format plug.

anyway: •make aliases of EVO's data 1, data 2, Graphics, Titles, and Sounds files.
•put them in the EVO data files folder in the Dev Map folder.

Thanks for the help.. I already knew that. When i first launched EV Dev map it asked were all those were and placed the aliases in the right folders all for me.

If you don't have the patience to learn Res-Edit, I doubt you'll have the patience to make a worthwhile plug-in.

Ok, so ive just made this very small plug-in to see if it would work in ResEdit. So how do i get it into the format of a EVO plug-in?

Open up a real EVO plug in Resedit, then go to the file menu and select "get info for <plug name>" then look a the two fields which are called "Type" and "Creator". Remember what is in these fields, open your plug in resedit and put the same thing in the same two fields. (In case you don't already know, make the two dots above letters by pressing option-u then the letter) After putting those two things in there, the former Resedit document will auto matically become an EVO plug.
One caveat though. DO NOT copy the type and creator of an EVO data file, they use a different type and creator.

Actually you can just copy a plug-in and delete the resources.

You should never have to carry. This is written in Hexadecimal notation: each place can represent 16 values rather than 10. So instead of using the numbers 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9, we use 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E F.
A = 10, B = 11, C = 12 and so on up to F = 15.
So now, if you want to add the flags 0x0004 and 0x0008, it does NOT come out as 0x0012 as it would in decimal notation. In hexadecimal it comes out as 0x000C.

Ok what if it goes over 15? Also another question: When I was making systems some times they wouldn't show up on the map or be hpyerlinked. I was using ResEdit for that, i tryed EV Delopers Map but i didn't know how to get into res edit after using EV Dev Map
