Angled Sprites in LW.

The LW newbie is back with a few Q's for pro's like jd or Adm. Zombat out there:

How can angled sprites in the style of the Nova sprites (- I have the models, I know how to use Layout but where should I position the camera, what angle should I use for the ship, do i have to move the rotation pivot somehow ?)

I am to tired to think of something I could potentially write here and the perspective that no one would ever read that (yet inexistant) signature discourages me even more.

Having no experience with lightwave, I don't really know if this'll help, but you could try looking at my (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/show.pl?product=evo&category;=guides&display;=date&file;=Shipbuilders_Guide.sit.hqx")Shipbuilder's Guide(/url) for Infini-D. It has a little bit on spinning and angling.

No angling of the ship is required, you just set it so:

Camera: 45ş
Light: 30ş and pointing from the left
Ambient light: If you have one, set it to 5 -10% (0.05 - 0.10, if it's in decimal form)

Ship: Should be facing straight at a 0ş angle. It is rotated at 10ş every tenth of a second.

Hope that helps.

Looks like they just about covered it before I'd had a chance to reply, one thing that Makes it easier is to do it in 1/4ths, the first fourth being 90 degrees and nine frames, and so on. Problem comes into play when you dont want the ship's center to be the sprites center, In that case, Parent the thing to a null in the proper position and rotate that.
For Bryce, I cant remember if you have to rotate the camera for the sprite to look right or not, I think that I had to do this once (it has been forever since I even loaded Bryce tho). If you can rotate the ship, just position the camera at a 45 degree angle from behind the ship (to position the camera double click on the rotate wheel I think), and keyframe on frame 0 at 0 degrees, 9 at 90, 18 at 180 degrees, etc. Then render it from frame 1-36. Should work... For larger sprites, add more frames...
For C4D, I would assume it is the same process as it is in lightwave.

I just remembered what I forgot to mention:

"Banking" in EVN is when the ships tilt when they turn. This can be achieved by tilting the ship model 10-15 degrees, then animating it the way mentioned above. I forget which way they tilt first in the shän resource, so I would suggest looking at, say, a Viper animation to see which way they tilt.

Banking is a cool effect but it shouldn'texaggerated and overused...
