Ideas?

Many people are saying how hard it will be to create EV Nova Total Conversions. EV and EVO had quite a few of these, and it was, obvisously, a huge selling point, (and playing point for that matter).

I think there is truth to the statement, however. The fact is, in Nova, every thing takes ALOT longer. One user made the point something along the lines of; For one person to do all of the graphics, gameply, galaxy, etc, it took a long time and was very challenging for EV and EVO. To do it in EVN will be almost impossible.

I think EVONE (read sig) will greatly help the devlopment, but I still think there are improvements the EV community could do to help out the process.

Are there any ideas currently out there, either real or in your heads, that you think would make designing TC's easier? I'm mainly thinking along the lines of shared resources, possibly graphics, possibly mission ideas, whatever. The board is good, but things don't last long (example; "My Idea for a TC" is lost into the back pages within a few days). There may already be a thing like this, or it may be a bad idea, but I'm also wondering if there are other things we could do to help out each other. It seems silly to let the assumption by many that there won't be many, good, TCS for Nova become a realaity.

Well, I tried to get a (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/003091.html")beta tester list thing(/url) going (which it still is, just needs more people to sign up, and more people to require the service), and got a bunch of people to sign up. So there's one thing people can do to help each other.

The Nova engine is still sort of new, and will take a while for people to really get moving on it.

Don't just respond "me too". Copy and paste what the other person said and post it again!

Well, you can do what my team's doing: just that, work as a team. Sometimes it doesn't work, sometimes it does. 'Course, it tends to help that QT and I know each other IRL, so we'll whack each other upside the head occaisonally when we're not doing anything. BariSaXGuy5 and Divals the Conqueror are doing a great job on our graphics.

I can see how an individual effort would be a major problem: Onyx tried to do that with Cold Blood, which looked incredible. But no one person can handle that kind of work, unless you skimp on everything, which means you plug sucks.

Personally, I think a team plug's the best way to go. However, I can also see how pooled resources would be great. Only problem is getting enough continuity with it: no two missionwriters will write the same way, and no two graphics artists design ships/weapons/outfits/whatever the same way. So if you get a really really cool ship from one guy, you're gonna have one ****uva time finding another ship that looks anything like it.

Of course, you wouldn't have that idea with mission ideas, as they're just that: ideas. However, ideas tend to run out after a while, as even the Nova engine has its limits. What doesn't run out is new ways to combine them, like that idea of being sent by one government to capture a high official, then having a choice of either taking him in or defecting to his government. Or my idea of using combined cröns and missions to do a plugin based entirely on time travel (incredibly complicated, but would be very cool). Your possibilities are much less limited with Nova.

Have a good week.
