Arios SoftWare has announced the development of EVONE 1.0.0, a plugin editor for EV, EVO, and EVN. Escape Velocity Override Nova Editor will provide low-level and graphical high-level editors for every editable entity. The inclusion of high-level editors means that you have to fill in fewer fields, while EVONE calculates the others. Every resource type that would benefit from a graphical editor, such as ship and weapon sprites and the galaxy as a whole will have one. If, however, you would prefer precise control, EVONE will also contain a full complement of low-level editors. EVONE contains many tips, tricks, and guidelines in Help Balloons throughout the program. If you would like to see a precise explanation of what a particular field does in the game, you can simply mouse-over the field's title.
With it's finderesque interface, EVONE ingeniously lets you organize plugins into folders of your choosing. Using this, you could organize all of your weapons and ships by government, for example. EVONE is a genuine Carbon program that is being targeted for Mac OS X only, due to its use of many Mac OS X only technologies. For more information, screenshots, and a behind the scenes look at EVONE, visit (url="http://"http://www.ariossoftware.com/upcoming/")http://www.ariossoftware.com/upcoming/(/url)
Arios SoftWare welcomes any constructive comments or suggestions.

Good luck, although I must say that an X-only version sucks.

Eh, classic folk have NovaTools to run natively and you'll probably have 2 or more map editors long before EVONE is released.

I must echo this concern... the Classic version of (url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net/mc.php")MissionComputer(/url) is still receiving many more downloads than the Mac OS X version, which indicates that many plug-in developers still rely on Mac OS 9.

Or, in my case, 8.6...
Still, I guess I can't ask the world to stand still while I use an older OS. ::

Thanks for your comments, I will look into providing OS 9 support. The program currently works in OS 9. The main problems are the interface irregularities between the two OSs. It is the interface problems that render the progam unusable in OS 9.
As for the name, it would have to have an E on the end for Editor. As a result, the suggested name would turn into EVCONE and I thought EV-ONE sounds better than EV-CONE. I can't decide whether the name should be EVONE or EV-ONE. Any opinions?

I must say that Override looks like Overppide in your start-up screen.
Other than that it looks quite cool.
Oh, and if you eventually need somebody to test EV-ONE I would be quite interested.
Speaking of OS X-9-8.6 Does anyone knoe how to force an old computer to update to 9.0 even though it says I can only stay at 8.6? So how tricking the installer just to install and not check your computer stats?
Back to the editor I would definately have to go with both EVula and David Arthur about the only OS X.

As do I. To borrow a phrase from MacAddict, it looks Freakin' Awesome.
As for the name, I'd say go with EV-ONE.
I noticed in one of the screenshots it says "Registered to: NOT REGISTERED" Does this mean we'll have to pay for it? I just don't want it to turn into another EV-Edit.
Oh, Captain Roach--your sig is funny, but you have a small grammatical error.

Just buy OS X. You support Apple, you get access to all the awesome new OS X software, and you get the best operating system on the market. Even I managed to come up with $100. Believe me OS X rawkz! Everyone needs it...it will help apple more than you think.
Finally...no more Classic!

Thanks cat99 I hope I fixed it correctly, I'm getting a 128% in math and only a 71% in english. Your sig is pretty funny also Well besure to tell me if thats the fix.
Also anyone got an answer to the Update to 9.0? (see my original post)

When EVONE gets farther along, there will be extensive beta testing, and I will be looking for a number of beta testors. As for the registration, right now the program just writes that line without checking anything. It is yet to be decided whether EVONE will be freeware or shareware. Though I have used EV-Edit a lot, I do not know the full story behind it. Why has it not been updated in so long? Would anyone care to explain or post a link to an explanation?
nice. finally something for X. NovaTools doesn't work for me, so this'll be nice.

sigh I'm sick of the idea that "everyone needs it (OS X)". I'm quite happy running OS 9.1. I have seen about 4 reasons to make the switch, and this program (no offense) is hardly one.
As for buying it, I have it (and have had it (full version, not talking about the public 'beta' or the developer's versions, although I do still have a copy of that around here) since a bit before it was released to the public), but have better things to do than re-learn the OS.

The developer moved on to better things, more than likely, and he probably didn't get much money for the program (if it didn't mess up about 75% of the files it read, I'm sure he would have gotten tons more registrations).
Learning a new OS? It took me about 30 mins to learn the dock and some of the shortcuts. How could you have OS X just sitting there and you not use it? You will still have OS 9.1, it will just take a sec to start up Classic.
I really don't think learning OS X is a problem. But, whatever man.

shrug I have enough people complaining when I don't update my site; getting accustomed to a different OS is just one more thing to slow me down, when I really don't need any help in that department.

Well, for the record, I went to France right after I got OS X. Then I just never got around to installing it; everything that I run works just fine in 9.1, I just haven't had any reason to switch. This program, no matter how wonderful it is, probably won't make me switch, either.
